Tumble-eena to Cake Guru
Board: Letterbox Chatter
May 15, 2019 1:26pm
Hi everyone-
Just a shout out to those who know me as Tumble-eena. My trailname has changed to Cake Guru. I am fairly new to AQ but I have emailed individuals I have been in contact with while participating in various trackers. Hope there is little confusion. The trailname change was a long time coming.
Thanks!

What I just figured out at the last Live and Breath event and I know folks have been doing this at events for YEARS....a painters half apron....you put your stamp and stamp pads and logbook in the pockets and you can easily get them in and out all day long. We even left the event and went to the local hardware store to get some for Ryan Green Tortuga Carpenter and Lea Princess Lea Fox. For an event where you are constantly having to get your stamp out and you are doing series where there is a letterbox every other minute it is perfection. Now I want to bling mine out with patches !!

I guess we're a bunch of outliers (2018: California 2) and just prefer to plant when we feel like it. I planted a series (4) earlier this month, and others in my area also planted.

Eevil is one of the usual suspects for PAL Day-- doesn't have to, but does anyway--like the Finlanders, Finlandese, Finlandishers.

But if Eevil publishes a box with no clue and no listing, that would be pure Eevil.

PAL Day is the day before the last Tour the Fort event this year. I'm taking the day off to get the planting and listing done. So Maine will have some boxes, just by pure coincidence.

I'm sure it works out that way for other places events are being held this Saturday.

Is Scavenger Hunt day a real "holiday?" Then it is all coincidental. I've been hosting Tour the Fort events the Saturday of Memorial Day for 10 years.

Today boxes can be listed on AtlasQuest to be counted as part of tomorrow's PAL event. To be counted by the widget the plant date needs to be changed to May 24 and there must be no restrictions on the box. This year, for once, my letterbox plant for PAL day will count for my home state.

Exactly--the restriction box must be none or the widget won't count it. That being said, some of my PAL boxes in the past have not been widget worthy.

If you put a restriction on it by using the dependency feature, the widget won't count it as part of a state's total. That's the exact same reason some of my past PAL boxes haven't counted. But it will count in the PAL Day total. That's okay because I love bonus boxes more than PAL Day boxes on the widget.

It updates immediately. It wasn't being counted because you didn't follow the rules.

I went ahead and fixed the listing so it complies, but it won't count unless all of those rules pass.

PAL (International Plant a Letterbox) Day 2019 Postscript
Board: Letterbox Chatter
May 26, 2019 10:52am
Thanks to planters, including the usual suspects as well as some new participants, 106 new boxes are out in the world waiting to be found. Finland added to its treasure trove of boxes and now sits in 11th place internationally, far ahead of Sweden, Russia and any neighboring nation. Maine got the most new additions, the number of outliers in California quadrupled, and even New Mexico was twice-blessed. 364 days until the next PAL but don't wait--go ahead and plant letterboxes in those places that are meant to have them.

Happy Hunting

I am carving a stamp. I (almost) always start with the outside. I was carving the edge and I cut myself, rather deep. It was about 3-4 mm deep at a 45⁰ angle, but it is not bleeding much, unless I try to carve again. I'm out for about 30 minutes, but then I will resume carving.

I figured that I would share my (minor) misfortune with the community.
