Tucson has a lot of boxes but you have to hike for many so it would take time. You are going to fly in and scoop them up in a week.

Do Ohio. Greenlawn in Columbus, Spring Grove in Cincinnati. There is a big cemetery in Dayton, a ton of boxes in a couple of cemeteries in Urbana, and a bunch in the cemeteries of Chillicothe. You can spend your whole trip with the dead. No one to whine that it's time to stop boxing. Just bliss.

We've had some wonderful events in Michigan with beautifully carved stamps in fabulous parks. You can spend a day or two or more letterboxing in each place. Here are some that come to mind:

Lyon Oaks Dog Park, 52221 Pontiac Trail, Wixom, MI

Three metroparks connected: Willow Metropark, 23200 S Huron Rd, Huron Charter Township, MI, along with Lower Huron Metropark, E Huron River Dr & S Metro Parkway, Belleville, MI, as well as Oakwoods Metropark, 32911 Willow Rd, New Boston, MI

Waterloo Recreation Area, 17030 Bush Rd, Chelsea, MI

Proud Lake Recreation Area, 3500 Wixom Rd, Commerce Twp, MI

You can easily spend a week in this area hitting these cemeteries--Spring Grove alone would take 2-3 days to do completely!! And these are all within a max of 2 hours of each other!

Would love to meet up if you do head out to the Heart of It All

Homer Lake Forest Preserve near Homer, IL

Homer Lake (not far from Urbana, IL and the University of Illinois) has been the location of Homerdoodle at Homer Lake 2016 and Homerdoodle 2018. Both events placed many letterboxes on the trails there and Homerdoodle in the Country 2017 is in Vermilion County not far away. In addition, there are many, many letterboxes planted within a 30 mile radius of Champaign, IL. Homerdoodle in the Woods will take place in July 2019 just to the west of Champaign, IL - planning on quite a few more letterboxes to be planted on trails in another Champaign County Forest Preserve.

Me! Today. We did a cemetery series with a friend, then had a late, but wonderful Chinese buffet lunch.
After the first set of boxes, a car buzzed past us (not cemetery speed), and parked where we were supposed to park for our next boxes. Two people hopped out and strode across the 'planting ground', turning abruptly, then stopping, turned again, waved their arms a bit, and ~ gee, what could they be doing? They sure weren't mourners.
We drove past slowly, wondering if they would find their target before they found any of ours, went around the loop, and returned just as they jumped back into their car and hurried away.

Yes, we found what we were looking for. At lunch we discussed trying to letterbox outdoors at least once in January and February, too. Sometimes it's possible, and other years it just isn't a good idea. We shall see.

I did some box maintenance. Replaced two missing boxes, discovered that two others from the same series were missing, so the series is still down by two boxes.

And--even worse--one of the missing boxes included one of my very first stamps that had been in the wild and going strong for 15 years. RIP little worm.... *moment of silence*

Then I climbed a tree--so much better to smell the dead skunk by the parking lot.

Good times! =)

Yes, as we just enjoyed, AAF! St Louis is a wonderful place to letterbox. Wish we could have stayed longer and found more of the incredible boxes by the very talented SL area planters.

Thanks so much to everyone who shared suggestions. We’re looking forward to checking out as many of those sites as we can!

Sadly I did not go boxing on boxing day. While it was good enough weather for boxing, it was also good enough weather to finally paint the shed we've been meaning to paint for a couple months...so I did that instead. However, I DID find 2 boxes on Christmas Day, and I just packed up 4 for planting soon... :)
ORLANDO AREA HELP ME PROPOSE TO MY GF

So, my girlfriend Kelsi and I have been dating for a year and a half and been friends for almost our entire lives. We bonded at the beginning of our relationship over letterboxing. It has been such an adventurous and enticing hobby. I want to propose to her, in letterbox fashion. I’m taking her to Walt Disney World in Orlando for New Years but I don’t want to be like every other chap in the world proposing at Magic Kingdom. Can anyone help me in the Orlando area!? We’re going to go out letterboxing on the 1st of January.

Oh I wish I were local and I'd carve a special stamp and hide it somewhere where you were going for you!!! I hope someone in Orlando is available to help make it special! Maybe you could get a special AQ background with rings or something?! (hint hint) Good luck and Congrats!

I'm not on the area, but my friend's fiance did manage to slip her ring into a letterbox shortly before she found it. I think she'd gone to the restroom or something and he was able to find it and put it in there before she came back out. She thought it was fake and that a geocasher had put it in there at first :)
Good luck!!!!

Team Mad Dawg and I went for our annual Boxing Day adventure. We first celebrated boxing day together in 2003 and have only missed one year (my fault--major surgery) and had to delay once due to weather--made it out the next day! Both of our families know not to expect us for anything on this day, and we both take off from work even.

This year we went to Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio. A beautiful day!! High 40s, sunny, no wind. Found 24 boxes, TMD hit the 3K mark and we laughed a lot.

Letterboxing 2018 downs & ups

As we think back on this letterboxing year, two thoughts stand out for us. First, the passing of our friend sewsewbizzy, who will never long be far from our minds; and second, Live and Breath XX in Texas. A tribute to sewsewbizzy was given at L&B XX and we came away with one of her stamp (recently replanted at Lake Tahoe.)

AND Kudos again to the Texas crew, renegades and otherwise, for a super special event. It was the highlight of this year and right up there with the best LB experiences that we have had.

Letterboxing New Year's resolutions?

I was chatting with a friend a couple of weeks ago, and I mentioned that I have actual letterboxing New Year's resolutions this coming year. Specifically, I have two series mostly ready to go that are sitting at my house. It's time for them to go out into the world.

Does anyone else have some resolutions or goals for 2019?

Last year's resolution was to box in at least one new state. I ended up with three (Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi). My 2019 resolution is the same. 😊
