And we should be doing something productive!

I did! I found 2 boxes, searched for another 5, and planted 3 yesterday! In 109° weather, no less!!!

I like that - for those of us who play in the postal world! I wish I had some mailboxing happening right now, as a matter of fact!

mailboxing

Adventure Crafter used to, and probably still does occasionally, refer to it as "Adventure Crafting" (hence her trail name).

Well, in a sense, that's what it is. What we call a mailbox is called a letterbox in England, which is how this hobby got it's name. People used to leave pre-addressed post cards before rubber stamps.

I was with Goofy Girl at the time, so she has the same stats for yesterday. :) Except one of the boxes I found was hers, so I guess she doesn't have the same finds. We had fun! It was a long day, though, because she had a 3-1/2 hour drive and I had a 2 hour drive to get to our destination. I slept like a rock last night, though.

Does it rub off?

Depends... if I'm in full-out "boxing mode" and you happen to be in my vicinity when it happens, I'll grab you and drag you with me. I usually leave as early as possible and box until I'm about ready to collapse (which is longer if the weather isn't so hot).

LOL! It was a newly-hatched egg that wanted the info :) I'm pretty sure that you started a while before we did!

I don't mind if seasoned boxers ask for info as I'm more than happy to give hints ;)

That particular box uses a keyword based cipher and the keyword is "in the wild".

Around my neck of the woods, mailboxing is a federal offense. He-who-shall-remain-nameless was handcuffed and put in the sheriff's vehicle at 16. He was driving; 14-yo baseball stand-out brother was the one with the bat. Their decision to return to the scene of the crime and admire their handiwork was their downfall. Where are they today? High school principal and local police officer and recently retired SWAT member. Who would have known years ago???

It isn't a premium member clue cuz I can't see it either. Must be either a whitelist or a high PF.

Nope, not premium member either. Nor a Pin Up.
And since I'm P155 F1590-- I just figured I was blacklisted.
What a relief that it's not just me! LOL!

mailboxing is a federal offense.

So we will stick with letterboxing as the name!

Sounds the one handcuffed & the batter did okay for themselves! Maybe the experience scared them straight!!

Sorry folks - suffering from a Benadryl hangover - I posted a box that is in mid listing... I listed the clues the day I went to plant it and could finish planting it... thus I upped the restictions to the moon... being in a drug induced stupor after a hornet sting yesterday - I forgot about the restrictions.

Sorry folks... I'll fix it so you can read it.

My plan today was to get some stuff done around the house, catch up with Gypsy Ladybug and CookieCutter then come home and eventually put my desk together. You know what they say about plans. The girls and I got some chinese for lunch then after we got a couple of boxes they were nice enough to go with me to get a couple I didn't have yet. All that chinese food and letterboxing in the hot sun made me one tired girl. I think my face is sunburnt too. I think I am postponing my date with the desk until tomorrow morning. It's a small price to pay for a fun day! Thanks GLB and CC!

My To-Do list is still waiting as well. We were enjoying ourselves too much today to worry about chores.

It was hot - but a beautiful day to be out. We were more than happy to go with you to the letterboxes. Plus, we were first to find on two new ones today! That's always a bonus.

Thanks for a fun day!
I hope everyone else is enjoying the weekend as well.

I still think I live in a letterboxing desert. I spent a couple of weeks in Tennessee recently and planted a half dozen letterboxes along the way. All but one were found within a couple of days of planting, including one that was a state mystery box. I've planted boxes here in the Tallahassee area that have gone unfound for months.

The one thing I have going here is that anyone driving from points W of Florida to Disneyworld in Orlando pretty much has to pass by here on I-10, and sometimes they take the time to find a box or two. It's always a drive-by, though, and it's rarely more than one or two.

I was interested to see that my boxes that I planted in Branson on a HOT hike (out in the open on large rocks that emanate heat) were found sooner and more often than the ones I plant in Springfield. Interestingly enough, there are boxers in Springfield and none in Branson... the ones that were found in Branson were travelers. I'm thinking of planting more down there because it is fun to see the find reports. I still have one in Springfield that was planted in March that has no finders and it isn't a long walk nor are the clues difficult.
