Happy Festivus!
Board: Yakking It Up
Dec 23, 2018 1:23pm
I hope your bellies are full of meatloaf or whatever you fancy and you've got time to gather around that special pole, which hopefully has a very high strength-to-weight ratio, to air your grievances. And remember if you have nothing better to do, then go ahead and partake in feats of strength. A Festivus for the rest of us!
Fruitcake As Trail Food

Watching Sunday Morning on CBS today, I caught this gem that Ryan might like. Eating fruitcake for trail snacks on long distance hikes!

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/fruitcake-the-classic-festive-christmas-dessert-is-the-perfect-energy-food/

Hey, Ryan, in a couple of days you can probably get good deals on enough fuitcake for the next hiking season! LOL

Merry Christmas, all!

Merry Christmas! After listening to some beautiful carols on TV and singing at Mass in the beautifully decorated church--I'm finally in the Christmas spirit. Just in time.

Are links safe?
Board: Yakking It Up

Ryan, I have a question. When people post links on AQ, I've been freely clicking on them (like when I got Rick Rolled -- again! -- today. 8~P) And then my DH asked how I know the links are safe to click on. Does AQ have a way of somehow 'vetting' these links? Is that even possible? Could they carry something that might infect my computer with something nefarious? How do we know if they are safe since they come from so many sources? Or do we not know that at all? TIA.

As the person who posted the link in question, I will say on my on behalf, that is only time in my life I've posted a joke link. But given the meta nature of the thread/response I think the funny was worth the stretch... I mean Rick Aston is pretty benign.

That being said, as a practical matter in the case of the many message boards I frequent It's up to the members to behave themselves. Posting a link to porn or viruses will get your URL banned. On some VB bulletin sites you can hoover your cursor over the link and it will preview.

On my desk computer that won't work here but on my phone touching and holding the link will preview it.

Hope that helps... and sorry! ;~)
