New grandmother here...
Board: Yakking It Up

Thread
Hi, I'm just excited and have to share.

I haven't quite gotten used to the idea of becoming a grandmother yet (after all, I'm just 43 and have elementary-aged children of my own). Ready or not, though, I am now officially a grandmother as of about an hour ago. My grown son's wife just delivered a healthy baby boy, and we are all psyched about it! 8-) Plus, the baby's middle name is going to be my maiden name. Awww...

My daughters are going to be so excited when they get home from school--they have been looking forward to becoming aunts. My son and his wife live a couple of hours away, so I have to get all of our schedules coordinated and get over there ASAP! 8-)

Any other "youngish" grandmas or grandpas out there?

I knew there had to be a reason for the pie! I just wasn't sure what it was. I've never heard of Pi day before... but, I was seeing references elsewhere on the net, so I figured I was missing something. Thanks Wassa for the clarification! Math was not my subject, but who doesn't like pie!

Just wanted to share the good news...we've added another little chick to our nest over the weekend. Samuel Patrick was born on Friday evening...8 lb. 2 oz. and just over 20 inches long. He's doing just great and we couldn't be prouder. Won't be long before we've got him out on the trails. :-)

Quote March 14th is also a holiday for males! It is the guy version of Valentines day that happens a month after valentines. It is a holiday not appropriate for explaining on these boards though. Does anyone know the holiday I am refering to?

Ok, I'm biting Chadams, what are you referring to?

I have a grandson that is seven weeks old and when he was born I was 42, have since turned ....ack ... 43. My daughter is 21 and I had her when I was 21. Kind of wierd I will say being a grandma this young. I also have a 10 year old boy. Seems as though we are having babies around here about every 10 years. Guess that beats yearly though. (smile) He will call me Nana instead of grandma because that sounds toooo old. (laughing) Congrats on your little bundle and I know what a proud GRANDMA you are.

I am about 2 months away from being a "youngish" grandpa (45). Our youngest, Katie, is 6, and is extremely excited about being an Aunt... she was a little worried at first about the tremendous responsibility of Aunthood, and wasn't sure she could handle it, but we assured her she wasn't TOTALLY responsible for the nephew's upbringing. She won't have to change diapers; just help him with his letters and numbers, sing him some songs, and play with him - she was okay with all that!

Congratulations to you!

Oh thats funny!!! You were actually supposed to use the abbrevition of the missing words in the website name! That will be the real website! I never even thought of checking the website you did!!!
Let me know what you think of the real one! :-) They even have t-shirts for sale!!! Unfortunately the card section is down!
