Hope for a freeway series.

Oh much more fun would be Manny in Boston!

The big differnce that turned their season around was acquiring Manny Ramirez from Boston. His stats are: batting average .398 - on base percentage .491 - Slugging percentage .757

Ugh. It just makes what a brat he was in Boston that much worse. He could play well, he chose not to.

Anyway, seems to be a mutually beneficial trade. The Sox are a much more unified without him. And I bet Francona's blood pressure is much lower.

Not so sure we will sweep but:

DODGERS 2
CUBS 0

looks pretty good. There were not any black cats, Bartman, goats or curses.

Simply:better coach, better pitching, better fielding and better hitting.

Are you a Cub fan? If so my condolences on hitting the century mark of futility.

Yes, I am a Cubs fan. I guess we will once again wait 'til next year. :( But as Eddie Vedder said in a very moving song (it made me cry!) "Someday We'll Go All the Way".

Go Dodgers!

Interestingly enough the Dodgers and Phillies met late in the year in two series. Each team swept the series that was at home! Bad news for the Dodgers unless we can steal one.

Sounds good. It is interesting that on an ESPN survey the state of New York voted more for the Dodgers winning the World Series than anyone else. I guess New Yorkers would all have a reason to hate the other three.

All laughs aside it should be fun doing the college bowl challenge again this year. Did you by any chance end up with my WVU-Oklahoma Fiesta Bowl stamp? If so I would love to trade one of other stamps I got for it! I have a Buckeye and Clemson one!

BTW, that's on the agenda for the bowl games. One change this year: if you don't have your prize stamp in by the time the first game is played, you're dropped from the pool. I don't want to see you get hosed again IrishRef, by not getting the one continually promised stamp that never came...although you did get some others.

Still, you guys could carve your stamps this far out and be ahead of the game, you know.

I love it already conceding the victory?

Stamps ahead would be great.

Um, well, ah, you know how it goes, being in the shadow of greatness. (laughing) Won't tell anyone how the darts selected my order last time. In that pool, I felt a little like Stan Humphries after the second time he got knocked during a sack just before he retired. He came up obviously not having a clue where it was for a few seconds. I know so little about college football, except to automatically think LSU when I see purple and yellow together or Michigan when dark blue and yellow together.

I turned the game on late, and was surprised to see numbers on the helmets for the Browns players. I don't like it! I am assuming these are some type of throwback helmet? Please tell me this won't be forever . . .

Sheeze, look at how greedy we get. First you Red Sox fans just wanted to win one World Series. "One World Series before I die--just one!" Then you went and won two of them. And now even that's not enough?

I never said that. Before _I_ die I want them to have run off a few dozen World Series wins. :>

They are indeed! I was relieved to see the Rays hold off the Sox. I was afraid that last year was repeating itself.
It is so nice to see fresh faces in the WS if the Tribe or Cubs can't be.
I hate to see the media darlings win (NY & LA teams).
This should be a good series.

Boy, do I have one for you! My Alma Mater, the University of Buffalo Bulls (also know as SUNYAB). When I went there, we had a student body of, oh, 32000 and they brought the football team back from extinction. That first year the only play they could make was a fake punt. Once a game, mind you. The basketball team played in a gym smaller than most high school gyms (at the time!) and they padded the stats for the top rebounder to get notoriety (he supposedly led the nation that year). Both sports are now D1 and the football team is pretty good this year and a couple of years ago the basketball just missed a chance to go to the dance for the first time (one of just a handful of D1 schools to never make it into the field of 64)! And yes, I am a Bills fan.

After all that you can see why I am a natural Washington State Cougar fan...

BTW, I am jealous of the Rays on one level. The same way I was jealous of the Fish and Diamond Backs. It was bad enough when the Blue Jays won 2 world series before the Mariners even had a winning season (they came into the league the same year)!!!

Oh well, they say all this builds character.

Go Cougs! Go Bills! & there's always next year M's!
