this show was recording while the last one was playing so these people didn't get a chance to see the things Russel did last time

it's really coming into play now. I think Jerri (and several others for that matter) would've played differently had she seen his previous gameplay. I didn't realize the villains hadn't watched Russell's season b/c Parvati acted so wise to 'wanting the devil on her side' so I figured they had seen his "game-playing" methods but now I realize she must've just realized up front how conniving he could be and knew it would be better for her to play with him.

It answers a lot of questions for me since they had not seen his season b/c i kept wondering why the tribe members weren't catching onto his old tricks. I think that takes away a lot of his "i'm the best-player-ever" bragging rights b/c most of their downfalls have been due to others knowing their strategies; yet Russell is still able to play his original game without a lot of folks clueing in.

I wonder how differently things would've happened if his season had aired before this one filmed. DANG.

Andy writes for a lot of magazines and reviews. In this, he suggests that Parvarti was tipped off about Russell's style of play:

Manoman, I wanted to see the troll beat Boston Rob, just because it would be funny to BR's ego, but dang, it was unsatisfying.

I understand that there's a big difference between 29 and 38 but 38 is young compared to the likes of some players who've gone out there and whooped booty without whining about how "old" they are.

I am a HUGE Boston Rob fan. I think he has the CRAZY intuition and street smarts. If Rob had watched Russell's season I don't think it would've taken as long as it did for Rob to target Russell. On the other hand, Russell was targeting Rob from the beginning before Rob even noticed Russell.

I was so turned off last night when Russell said "I picked the person who went home last week". It's true but also disrespectful to his alliance...not every word you think has to come out of your mouth. His ego is making me wanna gag. I loved Russell last season and was looking forward to him on villains but for some reason I have SEVERELY soured to him now.

I am sooooo sad Rob is gone. His insight was fun to listen to and I only wish Tyson and Jerri had've been wiser to Russell.

Russell is a producer's dream. He always says something that makes a great sound bite, he's sneaky and stirs up trouble, and he thinks aloud to the camera all the time. He's smart and knows how to put on an act and how to read & manipulate people.

(And yes, he's arrogant and a jerk and a whole list of other things, which is why I couldn't stand him at the beginning of last season. But for me at least, he brought an element of excitement back to the game... it's like, oh... what will Russell do this time?? I don't know what he's like outside the game but he makes a fascinating character to watch.)

I think it's made for a very interesting dynamic that the other players haven't watched Russell's season but I don't think it's the only reason he's doing well. They don't know his tricks and that may seem to give him an edge, but in reality they all made a mistake from the very beginning by just dismissing him. Stooopid! Every time someone called him a dumb*ss I just shook my head.

If they'd been on their game they would've been paying attention. I mean, come on! He obviously made it back for another season as a villain for a reason. If I was a player pitted against a new guy that I had no knowledge of except that he qualified to be on the creme-de-la-creme 20th season with all the big players... hmm, I think that would have made me 10 times more suspicious of him than anyone else. I would have been studying him like a hawk and looking beneath the surface.

The only person who seemed to wise up pretty quickly was Pavarti, who immediately latched onto him. That, too, should have raised alarms because, in their own words, they described her as the most dangerous, untrustable, power-hungry player in the game. Clearly, if she found a kindred spirit in Russell there was reason to be concerned.

Even Russell said several times in front of everyone that he was finally glad to be playing with people "in his league". How many more hints do they need that he's trouble??

But they ignored all of this. In the first handful of episodes the only reason they were talking about getting rid of him was because they were annoyed with how stupid they thought he was.

So maybe it'd be a different game if they knew his evil ways... maybe not. It seems most of them are sitting on their haunches this season. They came in riding on their experience from previous games but haven't actually been paying attention to THIS game.

Rob was the biggest disappointment for me because he IS a wise player -- he's also able to read people and pull tricks out of a hat. He was beginning to get suspicious of Russell by the 4th episode, but his arrogance in dismissing Russell as an inferior player distracted him too much. By the time he started to wise up Russell was already putting his plan into action.

Anyone else watching this?

I've been a huge fan of Jamie starting with his "Naked Chef" days, so of course I had to check this out. I wish I'd seen how things went in the UK when he started trying to change their school lunches - I wonder if it was as much of an uphill battle as it's been (edited to be) here.

I was glad to see the show focus this week on the high school - Jamie seems to have a real rapport and interest in teenagers in particular. It looks like he has at least one candidate for his "Fifteen" restaurants in the kid with anger-management issues.

Jamie Oliver is total eye candy for me, and then add in what he's trying to do is great. LOL
I always loved his Jamie At Home show best...total food porn. I have his Tomatoes episode saved on the dvr and I watch it over and over.

I always make my kids homemade lunches to bring to school. This year the school has done away with their sandwich bar (where the kids could make their own pbj, etc.) and they now have individually packaged premade pbj trucked in. WTF?!

I'm such a fan of Jamie too! I did see a few episodes of the show he did where he transformed England's school lunch program. It was pretty intense for him then too. You can probably rent that show on Netflix! :) I'm SO excited about his US endeavor though! And I LOVED seeing how passionate the teenagers are about helping him! I can't wait to see more! :)

You make some interesting points Ohana. I will try to stomach Russell for a few more episodes in hopes that I end up liking him as much as I did last season. UGH....

I still think Coach is LAUGHABLE as a villain and how the heck did Jerry earn the nickname "Black Widow"? Her original season is one of the few I've missed but I've never seen anything "widowish" about her.

Cirie and Coach or James and Coach should've swapped tribes.

You wanna know what I missed on this season? I really was looking forward to a few laughable moments from Tyson. He seemed a lot quieter this time around and I sure did miss his hilarious antics.

I have no idea -- I didn't watch his original, but from what I see in this season he's no villain at all, and definitely not in comparison to people like Rob and Russell.

and how the heck did Jerry earn the nickname "Black Widow"? Her original season is one of the few I've missed but I've never seen anything "widowish" about her.

I did watch that one recently and I don't think she deserves the nickname. She walked out of one reunion show because she was hurt over the way the press and people on the street had treated her.

Her attitude on the 2nd season wasn't great and it didn't rub well with viewers, but hey it was only the second season and things hadn't quite heated up like they did in later seasons when even bigger, more conniving personalities appeared. So it's a perspective thing.

For a while she ruled the roost and had a little clique of "in" people hanging onto her, kinda like the popular girl with a mean streak. It's understandable why a lot of people were turned off by her attitude and she was a bit sneaky about some things, but as for being a villain... she wasn't.

The main thing she did was accuse a military guy of sneaking beef jerky and she got everyone riled up by that, another player even went through his stuff looking for evidence and then when it was suggested that she apologize to him she refused. Whether he really sneak food into camp or not only he knows, but it became an issue about his "honor" and really ticked a lot of military people off. In the "where are they now" follow-up show that aired after that season (which they don't do anymore) the guy talked about Jeri pretty harshly and proudly displayed a poster of her, hanging on a wall in his base, that everyone took turns throwing darts at. He smirked at the camera and said they'd had to replace the poster several times.

Since then she actually just seems to keep getting "softer" and less confrontational each time. I think her reputation is skewed but it's still following her around -- first impressions and all that.

I'm loving this! It's appalling to see how much some of the people of Huntington are fighting him. I wonder how much of it is exaggerated to make good tv (and radio). I was also amazed at the grade-schoolers who didn't recognize a tomato or a potato. I know they were very young, but we're not talking about exotic foods here. The french fry is the staple of their diet, but they don't even know what a real potato looks like? No wonder childhood obesity is such an epidemic. More power to you, Jamie - keep on trying to conquer!

I went out to dinner the other night and as I was heading to the restroom, there he was sitting in the bar, talking to some elder guy. If he had seen me, I sure he would have thought I was insane . . . claws drawn and everything!

And then I saw in the paper, because it's all about Ben Wade these day, again an advertisement to watch Survivor with HIM!!!!!! AUGH!!!!!

Yea, I totally watched the original 90210 and I'm addicted to the new version; but, it's definetly not something I would want my teenager to watch. It seems as though the kids run around with little to no parental supervision at all and act more like adults than kids. Still, I can't stop watching myself.

Yea, my nephew came out to the family room last night while I was watching it and he said "these people are in high school?!" He couldn't believe that what the kids were able to do and how they acted. Granted it's all a TV show but still some kids look at that and think it's okay to do what the other kids do.
My favorite is relaxing after a long day at work with 90210 and some carving material ;)

All I have to say is what the Hell?!?! I am more "LOST" then ever! PLease let's discuss because I love this show , have watched every episode, but last nights show really confused me. So Desmond is immune to electro magnetic energy? He shakes Penny's hand and flashes forward or backward or maybe sideward? Sayid is now on the smaller island and came to steal Desmond? It's all about Love? What happened to the story line about the chosen ones to replace JAcob? I'm so confused!!!!!!!

I think love is what is going to draw them into wanting the "other" original timeline, but it's all about fate vs. free will. As Desmond told Charlie, "there's always a choice, brother."

My very favorite thing among many about this episode was: DANIEL!

As soon as the first episode of the season aired and I realized there was an alternate universe, the *very* *first* thing I said was, "Daniel's alive somewhere!"

So, yeah. But I had to laugh when he sat down next to Desmond and said, "Do you believe in love at first sight?" Desmond looked like he was afraid he was going to have to resist Daniel's advances!

Oh, I've *hated* this season. Not really because they haven't been giving us answers, but because they haven't at least giving us an entertaining story or character progression. But last night's episode was both entertaining and went somewhere, so I liked it.
