I found three, but the day I looked for them I realized I'd end up being FF on all and didn't want to be greedy and get all the FF certifs, so left two for someone else! Now I need to find time to go find those last two! A nice series.

(devious plans in the works... MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH)

I'll have 3 kids in tow. I'm not sure they will endure an entire day. A half day maybe better for us. Perhaps a breakfast point and a lunch point?

I know what you mean. I'll probably have a 3mo 3wk old baby strapped to me (and so far she hates being in a car seat unless the car is moving). Of corse I'd love to letterbox the entire weekend, but half a day on Sunday would be practical. Especially to those who have a long drive home Sunday and work on Monday.

Just wanted to update you all on the Tarheel Treasure Hunt (not to be confused with the Treasure Haunt that will be in Ga. the weekend before)

There will be three parts to this event weekend. In case you cant come Saturday, perhaps either Friday or Sunday you can!

1. Friday Dinner (Meet, Greet and Eat) aka "Dinner on the Patio" at a nearby restaurant called Five Guys Famous Burgers & Fries. Moderately priced family oriented. see the event page at: http://www.atlasquest.com/events/event.html?gEventId=88

2. Saturday Main Event.... "Tarheel Treasurehunt" gathering/exchanging will start at 9ish until noon at the Shelter we reserved. We will probably ditch the potluck and just have Pizza delivered (1.00 per kid, 2.00 per adult should cover it). We'll have a 50/50 drawing to help with the cost of the shelter. We may have a Compass 101 class if there is any interest. We also may have a handmade log book demo if any interest. After lunch we'll go box box box and box!!! or hang at the shelter and gab.... http://www.atlasquest.com/events/event.html?gEventId=79

3. Sunday Event "Charlotte's Amazing Sunday Drive" our version of the amazing race. Each team will get a clue packet with clues and whatnot for 6 especially planted boxes in and around Charlotte. We will meet at 8:00 at a yet unnamed restaurant for breakfast and at 8:30 each team will receive their clue packets. As the race gets completed...we will meet at a yet unnamed restaurant for lunch, prizes and
goodbyes :( please see http://www.atlasquest.com/events/event.html?gEventId=82

We'd love to have y'all come down/up/over for all or either of these events!!!

The boys have a class at the Peaceful Dragon (just up the road from McDowell) on Saturdays from 12-1:15 so we'll have to leave by 11am and get lunch on the way there. We'll come back later but we won't be there for lunch. Just thought you should know if you are trying to get a head count for pizza.

I'm all for the pizza idea! Could even have it delivered! The only down side is no hidden/secret letterboxes hidden in food containers on the tables. LOL I am sure there would be other creative hidden box solutions though...

One idea might be decorations. Perhaps some Halloween type decorations for the kids. My oldest son wants to make a candy haunted house too. We may bring that and have the kids tear it up and eat it at a designated time.

LbSe Website / Pow-Wow Update

Sep 23, 2005 8:20am
I've updated the LbSe Website's Pow-Wow pages with the Event Announcement I sent earlier this week.

Please note that there are directions to (and a map of) the Reserve on the site. Access them through the "Take Me Out To The Pow-Wow!" link on the main Pow-Wow page.

I will update the site again this afternoon. The map will also be updated; hopefully I will have a good idea of where I'll be setting up so I can provide that on the map.

Oh, boy, this is gonna be fun! :-)

Sticker stamps at Events
Board: Region: Southeast
Sep 25, 2005 5:58pm
Thread
I was considering using a sticker stamp at an upcoming event (Tarheel Treasure Hunt) since there are 5 in the family. The 2 adults have 1 stamp and the 3 kids each have their own stamp that they carry with them. I thought that people may like to have the imagine of all of them on one sticker rather than hunting down 3 kids too. After Springchick's article and all the responses with the majority hating stickers I decided not to do that. I guess it was a good thing that blog came out first! Anyway, the kids do have their own logbooks and individual stamps so happy hunting for the complete Wolf set! :) To make it even more fun, we now have new hand-carved signature stamps so anyone who did an exchange with us earlier doesn't have the new ones.

I think that the Tarheel Treasure Hunt Event will be so sprawling...with people getting together on Friday, Saturday and Sunday...and with camping and everything, that there should be plenty of time to do inking and stamping individually by hand. Come on! After all--this is the South where things are done a little slower anyway. Don't let that "Northeastern Hurry, Hurry Hurry" get to ya'll.

The Friday meet up has (officially) been cancelled, however, those who are in town Friday evening and want to arrange an informal meet are highly encouraged!

So the Saturday event, Tarheel Treasure Hunt will start at 10am and run until....

The Sunday event is in the process of being REVAMPED so that as little gas as possible is used, so I'm using some of my more creative muses to guide me in these plans (MUHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA) it will still start at 8am and end at 1:00pm...

I dunno...i think that ALL stamping should be done individually, by hand. I kinda feel...cheated when i get a sticker exchange...it's like, people are in such a hurry to get your stamp and move on, that they dont' even want to stay.
I like to talk while we're stamping and exchanging...ask them about their stamp..watch them stamp it (because watching how other people stamp is very interesting), and admire everthing, both then and later on.
Just sticking something into a book to save time is just...i don't know. Less gratifying.

Tiger and Shooting Star stamps?

Assuming this is the one at Amicalola, I was there a couple of months ago and could not even decide which was the correct "tree hanging over the trail" (or whatever the clue was, I don't recall the exact wording). We tried checking by every promising root and potential tree with no luck. I know that doesn't help answer your question, but I thought I would add it anyway. *grin* Anyone who has every found it want to chime in?
