Welcome to the Letterboxing Southeast message board!
Board: Region: Southeast

Thread
It seems you southeasterners have formed quite a tight-knit group and would like to preserve the 'southeast' flavor of the Yahoo Groups talk list. So, due to popular demand, you folks are getting the first 'regional' message group on Atlas Quest! =)

Alas, these message boards don't have all of the functionality you'll find on Yahoo Groups—most notably missing are polls and photos, though they are on my to-do list! For those of you who prefer receiving new messages as e-mail, that is one feature I do not intend to implement for a variety of reasons. The reasons, in case you're wondering, include e-mail limits with the hosting service, lack of reliability (running on a shared server, AQ's IP address is frequently tagged as a spammer and lots of messages end up bouncing—however, rest assured, I will never send you spam!), and the lack of control in taking back inappropriate messages once they're mailed.

It is my hope, however, that using well-designed message boards under one roof will eliminate the need for getting e-mail messages in the first place. It might take a bit of time to get used to the changes, but you'll become a pro at navigating these boards quickly and efficiently. That's my hope, at least. =)

Anyway, I've babbled on enough now.

Happy trails!

Thanks Ryan! You're the best. We really appreciate all the extra efforts you made to keep us all together.

Looking forward to many great days of chattin' over here on AQ.

Actually, I didn't put the link in until late last night. =) I uploaded these message boards Halloween night, but to give the system a good kick on the wheels, I only told a small handful of people about it to give it a try. Everyone else didn't see any links or news about the message boards until I was pretty confident everything was working more-or-less as expected (which was last night).

So you weren't going blind--I was just hiding it from you. =)

Aloha, everybody! =)

Okay, I'm here, too. And can I just say I HATE change? I'm sure this'll be way better and everything, but I'm very set in my ways, and y'all are going to have to hold my hand through this transition!

Yeah, change can be tough. It's very annoying having to relearn how everything works, but you won't be alone! Everyone else has to figure these boards out as well, and I'll be around to answer any questions or problems you have even if nobody else can. =)

Give yourself a week or two, though, and you'll be holding the hands of everyone else who starts to join up!

Wow Ryan thanks for the regional board. Anytime you want to come on over and sit on our porch and whittle some wood please feel welcome. We'll make you a tall glass of sweet tea and fix you up a good seat. Finally one stop shopping for all my letterboxing needs. Guess it's time to change those buisness cards I made to read AQ and not LbNA. I will always be true to my roots but really like the new pot I'm growing in now. Don't worry everyone I don't like change either but once we all get settled you'll find it's a really nice place.

Okay, what are the trophies and ribbons next to some people's names? I seem to rememer reading about those back when I first came onto Atlas Quest, but I don't remember what they mean, and now I can't find the information again!

Hey DebBee The trophies = planted and the ribbons = found the numbers on them = x's 10 and then they change color the higher the count. The egg shows new AQ member or updated profile. Anyone plaese add to or correct me if I'm wrong.

If you hover your mouse cursor over the images for a second or so, popup text will tell you what that particular image means. For more details than you, click on the image.

Doah! I just tried clicking on the image myself and it didn't work. (Though the popup did!) Must have forgotten to turn the images into links.... I'll fix that tonight. If the links DID work, however, they'd take you to http://www.atlasquest.com/help/userattributes.html

Rub it in! I guess this is another one (like Tea for One) that everyone else found, but I couldn't locate--at least not on our first try! We'll try again (as we did with success at TfO)!

BTW, how do you italicize here? I've looked through all the drop-downs and have no text toolbar.

I'm having a rotten technology day.

Confused and exhausted,

Hey Amyrica!

Mr. Happy just happened. I didn't really plan on getting it. I was completely alone out there. They've even closed down the part of the park, but it is still accessible. Tell me offlist where you went and I might tell you if you're hot or cold.

To do italics, go left bracket(shift ,)(letter)iright bracket(shift .)blah blah blah(shift ,)/iright bracket(shift .)

That makes the blah blah blah italics. Check out Ryan's Help and Best Practices to see some cool stuff.

Tea for One was a great park. Don't get down on yourself. We all have boxes that elude us. I think it is gremlins! For example, I tried for Squeezebox 5 times. I tried Whiskers 3 times, and had to get help from Ryan and Amanda from Seattle. Also, for whatever weird cosmis reason, Red/Silly have trouble with my Extreme box. Everyone has trouble with some box along their adventures.

Hang in there,
Mark

Sorry folks, church last night and some of the bunch is under the weather.

I am with you DebBee. I stink at all this sorta stuff and really hate change. But I will learn despite being yanked out of my comfort zone.

I do like having everything just a click away, as Steve said one stop shopping.

Rather than thinking of it as a move, you can just consider it a vacation cabin. Because the Yahoo group will still be there. But I think we will settle in nicely here in our new 'digs'.

I REALLY hate change! I have gotten so comfortable in our SE group. Kinda like that big chair in the den, ya know. I hate to get up and sit somewhere else. The whole "cyber family" was new and very out of my comfort zone, well most of Lboxing is for me. Anyway, I'll give this a try, I guess.

Yeah, I think the hosting company is based somewhere near San Jose and it's set to their local time.

I'm thinking of adding an option where people can select their time zone and have any times that get listed adjust for that fact. Thoughts? =)
