Granny and I are at the mountain frequently. We will be glad to replace the logbook for the sqeezeboxers if no one else is planning to do it. Seems like it was full when we found it several months ago.

We completely forgot to look for Eagles Nest our first visit to Stone Mountain. We had so many clues in hand that we did not realize it unitl we were at the bottom of the mountain hunting Ryan's box. As for Squeezebox, well I took a nice tumble and there she was!!

Eli has been sent a new logbook from the squeezeboxers. It is twice as thick so it should last longer. I think he's just waiting for a day to go back out.

Granny, Paw Paw,
Drop us a line next time you are heading out there, or Mark, you too far that matter. We have a logbook made for the Stone Mtn. squeezebox that the squeezeboxers sent us, but we have had the hardest time getting over there to replace it. If we aren't busy we are too broke to get into the park, and then Aubrey is getting too pregnant to climb the mountain, so I need to make a solo trip. I am still trying to do it, but it needs to be done, so let us know.

Thanks,
Eli and Aubrey

Ok cool. Just let me know when you want to meet up and I'll replace it. No sweat. I need to check on DuckDuck while I'm out there too.

Thanks E&A!

Hi KitCat! Continental is cool too. Wells Cargo is ok. And nope I haven't been in Memorable Books. I'll have to scope it out. I prefer A Capella books in Lil' 5 Points for obscure paperbacks.

Quote Yes, as far as Eagle's Nest goes, we need to start over at the top of the mountain, I think. We did the squeezebox first, and may have missed something in going back to do Eagle's

Yes, I think that's the problem. It is easier coming down. But you can also get my Extreme letterbox when you climb back to the top of the mtn. Shoot me a line next time you head out that way and I'll try to meet up with ya.

Take care,
Mark

Well, depending on the weather once again, we are out of school on March 7th(teacher workday). We'd love to get back out there and get the ones we haven't gotten to yet. If the weather cooperates we will be boxing somewhere that day. Would love to join up with you if possible. You haven't boxed until you boxed with Little Princess and Ballfan, right Mark? By the time Ballfan is done for the day, he'd match Ryan's new theme here pretty good! =)

After a frustrating day in letterboxing, I ended up the day with a reward!

I went out at lunch to pick up three boxes close to my work. I found the location of the first two boxes with no box in the location. I found out later they had been marked as suspected missing-go figure. By the time I finished trying to seek them out, lunch break was over.

After work, I was determined to get the third box and maybe another one. Well, box number 3 is no more either. It is a box that used to be hidden at Simpsonwood Retreat Center in Norcross. I followed the clues and passed the third pipe and just after the third pipe, they have plowed down all the trees. There is no more forest there to step in to! I found the rock mentioned in the midst of the mud and downed trees, but the box is no longer there.

Anyways, three boxes in a row-all gone. I was sooo frustrated by this point. I expect to find missing boxes every now and then, but I expect some good ones in the middle too.

I decided I would go ahead and try for ONE LAST PLACE. I decided to seek out Rambling Rose. I did indeed find her-AND inside of her box was my very first hitchhiker!!!! Who would have thought that Santa would have been hiding in the woods of Gwinnett County? I was soooo thrilled and all the frustration of the day melted away in an instant!

I can;t wait until the weekend when I can go out for a full day of letterboxing. Me and a friend are going out and we will have to balance new boxes for me with boxes I already found a week ago so she can get some cool stamps.

The question is, can I stay away until the weekend?

Will the old logbook stay in the box? I may be up there the weekend of the 12/13th, and would love to see the original!

They want us to send it to them when we replace it. It's a small container, and I don't even know how the new one will fit into it alone. If it get's replaced before you get there (which I hope to have happen), let me know and maybe we can meet up before we send it off.

Forgot to tell you about the new logbook. They included a bunch of images from Dartmoor boxes in the back of the new logbook. So either book will be interesting to check out.

Hi Brook.

Glad you've joined our little community! VictoriAnna actually was the last finder of the box at Simpsonwood. She was there right as they were knocking down the trees! She took the letterbox with her and notified the placer. I believe she gave the letterbox back to the original placer or might have hidden it somewhere else and provided the placer with the new clues (which he didn't post).

Either way, it appears that Katnhat dropped out of the letterboxing scene as quickly as he joined it and has never replaced any of his boxes.

In case you aren't aware, we do maintain a list of suspected missing boxes in the Yahoo group site. I'd suggest you check it out to avoid further disappointment.

Congrats on your first HH! It's always a fun treat!

Ha ha, ya'll are both so funny. Steve, I'd have gotten a ticket on the parade route! There's many things you can do in the woods that you can't do in the middle of St. Charles street! ;)
I still say that was one of the most useful $1 spent that day.

Welcome Brook, looks like you are settling into this addiction nicely. I think the next step is figuring out how to ditch work to go boxing. Don't worry we're a nice support group who's all been there.

Boxdn-I already have come back late from lunch cause I just HAD to seek out that one last box. So far I have found 12 boxes and a hitchhiker. Someone needs to plant a few dozen boxes near where I work.

Only 2 more days and then I can go out for a day of letterboxing again. I won't get a lot of boxes Saturday, because I will have a friend with me and many of the places we will visit are boxes I found last weekend. That's ok! I hope she will be as heavily addicted as I am before long.

Last night on the way home I FINALLY found the pink stuff and bought a pack of carving knives. It won't be very long (assuming I can do this carving thing) before I hide some boxes of my OWN!

Eli, it has been too cold to go to the mountain this week. It may be Monday or Tuesday before we go again. It you get the urge to go - let us know and we will try to make it. We can meet at the coffee shop in Stone Mountain and go in our car. We have a sticker. Also, we are interested in seeing the Dartmoor stamps so we would love to go with you.

Lady Buzz-

That is easy enough! I work near Peachtree Corners in Georgia. Boxes!!! I want boxes!!! More boxes!!!!

I am going out for a day of boxing tomorrow. I am meeting a friend at 9 and we are going to box til we drop. Most of the ones we will go to I already have, but I hope to get another 4 or 5 NEW ones in too!

And yes, I am nicely addicted. I no sooner get away from the store and I think of something else I just HAVE to have. I have the pink stuff-a couple of squares of it, carving knives, compass, book, stamp and pad (storebought-but I am gonna work on learning to carve SOON), hiking boots...

Next on the list are gloves, hiking stick, and more more more ink pads! Or those markers!!! After all, I don;t want to ALWAYS stamp in solid blue, right?

Just gotta get through today....

I have sooo many ideas for where to put them, now to just come up with clues and stamps. I don;t mind using my store bought stamp for my personal stamp for awhile since it suits me so well, but I absolutely REFUSE to plant a box with a store bought stamp in it. That is just WRONG!

Well Brook the saying has always been "if you plant them they will come". So by planting a box someone will come find it and maybe hide one, then someone else comes to find those two and plant another and so on. Please keep in mind though, Darwinism does apply to boxes, only the well hidden sturdy boxes will survive the long haul.
As far as carving goes, practice, practice, practice. Don't feel like it needs to look perfect, remember you are your worst critic.;-) There are lots of websites that will get you started carving and then there's supose to be a carving class/party some day, in your neck of the woods.

Also, I was pleased to see two boxes I found back in 2003 added to Atlasquest today!
