Adding to the great advise already given, I’ll post something not so obvious...

Make sure what you think you are saying is really what you are saying. There have been a couple of times when reviewing my clues I wrote “left” when I meant “right”. It seems impossible but it happens. You can get distracted by other aspects.

Here are some real examples of ‘adventures’ I’ve been on...

Clue said: “behind big tree on right side of trail” - of course, it was on the left.

Clue said: “behind the big, lone boulder” - a cluster of 3 actually.

And this one, clue said: (go to certain spot then) “cross the trail going due east, crotch of the big oak tree”.

I tried several times with no luck then contacted the owner. I heard back a couple of months later confirming they checked and the box was there.

I went back with the idea of not leaving until I found it. After a looong search, I finally found it.

It was due SOUTH in the crotch of a eucalyptus tree. Groan.

Im sure it was a honest mistake, but like I said it happens.

You were thinking of the direction it was when you were going back to your car. It is easy to get it wrong that way. ;-)

I once posted a clue counting '''three''' bridges. After the first seeker didn't find it I went back and checked. I did mean that many bridges, but I specified the wrong place to start counting. I didn't want to change the number to I re-specified where to start counting.
Wrong stamp in box...Solutions?
Board: Letterboxing Help Desk

I found a box recently where a previous boxer accidentally took the letterbox stamp & left their signature stamp in the letterbox.
The current owner of the box hasn't logged in AQ in since October 2018.
The person who left their sig stamp in the box & probably mistakingly took the real stamp isn't listed on AQ.

I am willing to carve a new stamp in place of the original. I am also willing to adopt the box (even though I have never done that) but don't know the requirements/procedures, etc..

Any suggestions on a solution?

Did you send an AQ mail message to the planter? Some folks who are no longer active on AQ have their settings set so that when they get AQ mail, it goes to their regular email inbox.

How would you know that? Isn't it just as likely that the original stamp went missing and the letterbox owner put in a replacement stamp so that people who found the box had something to find?

If I had to guess, it would be from looking at the logbook.

Did you try LBNA? Could you tell from the logbook what date they stamped in? Maybe it's someone who has since changed their trail name. If you reveal the name that you think belongs to the stamp, maybe someone will recognize it as a family member of another boxer, or a scout from a troop of newbies, or . . . (?) It seems unlikely they would have a trail stamp and not be registered somewhere.

In the letterbox logbook, the stamp signed "The Christians", dated & city/state is the stamp that was left in the letterbox. That led to me concluding they probably mistakingly left their sig stamp & put the real stamp in the box.

Would someone stamp a replacement stamp & sign their name like that?

The box is "The General's Bag" #255065 hidden in Nathan Bedford Forrest SP, Tennessee.
The owners are BrothersStamp and
KC Explorers.
The assumed sig stamp (according to logbook) belongs to The Christians, dated October 14, 2018, from a local city.
Yes, I checked LBNA, and no, the box isn't listed there, nor is the member (The Christians).

Yikes. Maybe they thought that in letterboxing you exchange the stamp you have with the stamp you find.

There's a boxer named Christian's Christian on AQ. Only 20 or so finds, but logbook is private, so no way to see what they've found recently. There's three other names that include "Christian" also.

Thanks! I did check all those. There are always possibilities, but what info were on those 4 pages mostly excluded them (1 active was from wrong area, the other had a viewable logbook). The other 2 haven't logged anything since 2014 which doesn't necessarily mean they aren't still boxing.

I messaged the owner & planter as RDHG suggested.

Any thoughts?

They haven't had any logged finds in almost a decade, and nothing even remotely close to that box, so... highly unlikely to be them. Nice sleuthing, though! It seemed, based on the info you had, to be a good possibility.

Hi, I’m new to the blog, I’m very sorry to bother but I made a stupid mistake. While activating a letterbox that was reserved I hit by mistake the traditional type, while the letterbox I planted is a Hitchhiker. I’m so very sorry I made this stupid mistake, is there a way to fix it? Can somebody fix it please? Thanks in advance for being understanding, Virginia

You can't change the type of letterbox, so you'll have to delete the hitchhiker and relist it as a traditional. I'd suggest doing the traditional listing first so you can copy the clue and location and stuff from your hitchhiker listing. Then when your traditional listing is all done, go ahead and delete your hitchhiker.

Here's a Help Page with more info.

Uh oh, you ARE new. Don't encourage him, he'll keep coming back...

The venerable Kelsung is correct... encouragement is NOT encouraged for this scourge of humanity, this blight on all that is good, this irksome, vexing, tiresome, and galling miscreant. He provides ONE miserably minor service, and expects there to be joy and celebration to exalt his formidable (yet misplaced) ego. Next thing you know, he'll be taking over AQ "for the good of the community". Mark my words, if such comes to pass, we shall all rue the day when a compliment was paid in fool.

Having Problem With My Event Times

I have 2 events listed on 10/12/19. Both are showing start and end times on 12:00 AM and I cannot get the times to set differently -- every time I put in the correct times and save the event, it reverts back to 12:00 AM. This doesn't seem to be an issue on other events I am looking at... what am I doing wrong?

You aren't doing anything wrong... just a bug in the code that I introduced while fixing a different bug in the code.

Sorry about that! It should be fixed now. Give it another whirl! =)
