Let's say I reserved 3 boxs seperately then decided they where a series... boxes are planted but I cant figure out how to combine the 3 boxes into a series.

I'd just delete two of the listings and edit the third one to be a series of 3. That would be the quickest, easiest way of doing it.

Then when the boxes are ready to go live, convert the third one into a traditional series and you're done!

My son had me go to the app store and choose Clue Tracker which had an update which fixed everything.

LBNA and AQ have different policies about adoptions--on AQ I believe the original owner's permission is required for someone else to adopt a box unless the original owner is known to be deceased. Even if the original owner hasn't checked in in a long while they still might and they'd probably be miffed that the box was taken over by someone else.

Ah, but that policy is about an abandoned listing on AQ.

The third paragraph of the Wiki I posted I thought applied:

The policy of not allowing adoptions extends to creating new listings on AQ of adopted boxes. In other words, if you adopt a box on LBNA, do not list it on AQ without the explicit permission of the original owner.

For those who disagree, think of it this way: If the owner of the box on LbNA hadn't listed it on AQ, it was probably for a reason. Maybe the reason was that they didn't know AQ existed or maybe it's because they hate AQ, but they had a reason and you're disrespecting them by ignoring their decision.

And if the owner does come back, how are they going to find the listing on AQ to take it back if they had never listed the box there in the first place?

So yes, if you adopt an LbNA-only box, keep it an LbNA-only box unless you get the explicit permission from the person who planted the box that it's okay to list on AQ.

Box owner was deceased for several years. This box is from LBNA, contact webmaster by email saying box is now adoptable. So Choi(Lbna webmaster) did asked me what number and he did legally changed ownership of box to my trail name. It is done deal and double checked list box - is now under my name. One says just copy the original clue of box and add new AQ# under my name as same clue to Lbna.

By my understanding of the rules you should be able to list it here. Nevertheless, wait until GT responds and says that it is okay.

If the original owner didn't want their box listed on AQ, then you shouldn't do it! Respect their wishes. Just because they died doesn't mean their opinion no longer counts.

I don't care if someone else told you it's okay--it's not. Ignore that advice to copy the original clue and list it as a new box on AQ. Maybe others think it's okay, but they can't freeze your account for disrespecting the dead like I can, so my opinion on the matter carries a little more weight.

If the planter didn't want it listed on AQ, don't list it on AQ for them. You still need their permission and them passing away doesn't change that (although it will, I admit, make it considerably more difficult to get such permission).

... on LBNA only. Choi can allow you to be the listed owner of that box on that site but it has no bearing on what other webmasters must do. They have the right to respect that or not.

Once you have your list of boxes in the area, scroll down to the bottom. There will be a box to check all boxes, a box to print checked boxes, and a box to map boxes. Click the box to map boxes after you check the letterboxes you want to map. It will give you a map and instructions on how to read the different colored pins.

What if a box is listed on both sites and not linked to each other. And box owner dies. It becomes adoptable on LBNA. Someone adopts it. What of the listing of the same box on AQ? How would that work?

As said before, after you do a search, scroll to the bottom of the list you get and select all (click on "CHECK ALL" button). Right near that button is the "MAP BOXES" and if you select that one you would get a map of all the boxes you found and you can even select the pinned location to see what box is at that location.

Here is an example:

Try that next time you are looking.

Sorry, I’m not trying to be snippy (nor do I have any authority here) but how is that (A) relevant to the original question and (B) not answered by the posted links and answered by Ryan himself?

Unless I’m terrible confused the situation is clear, unless you have express written consent from the original box owner you can’t list a box on AQ as yourself as the owner.

Of course, Green Tortuga might be along to correct me if I’m misunderstanding the finer points of the situation.

Reading the op had me wondering.
Say I had a box named Christmas and had it listed with clues on both sites separately. I died. Now my Christmas box is adoptable on LBNA. Someone adopts it. But what of the same Christmas box listing on AQ?

If you adopt my Christmas box on LBNA, you can make changes if needed like a changed landmark. But the listing on AQ would not be affected, since its not linked. My question then Is, would you also be able to adopt my Christmas box on AQ so you can also update the clue changes there? Or what happens to that listing?

So no new AQ listing of said box.

And maybe the rules for that are posted somewhere, I was just typing while I was wondering. 😊

I do let people adopt boxes on AQ if the owner dies. They clearly don't mind it being on AQ if they listed it themselves, after all, and I don't want the box to become trash by leaving it abandoned, and it's clearly impossible to get permission from them after they kick the bucket.

So presumably, whoever adopts the box on LbNA would also adopt the box on AQ.

But you're describing a different scenario than the original question asked. Basically, I try to respect the wishes of the planter--even after their death.

Yeap, different senerio, but related. As i said, the OP got me thinking about it.

Another senerio is the owner didn't die, just hasn't logged on in years. Box is adopted on LBNA. What happens to listing here? I've seen a few boxes around here that are abandoned on LBNA, but I think those are linked here. But what if they weren't?

Okay, I need to stop thinking about all the senerios. :D

Nothing. LbNA doesn't make decisions about how adoptions on AQ work. If you can get the owner to agree to let you adopt the box, though, they can transfer ownership to you. If they don't agree, you can't adopt the box here.

I've seen a few boxes around here that are abandoned on LBNA, but I think those are linked here.

If the clue is hosted elsewhere and you get access to that, you can change those clues. If the clue is hosted on AQ, you won't be able to change them without the owner's permission.

I just copied a clue from the clue page of a reserved box I had created. I then deleted the reserved box, because I wanted the date for the box to be Christmas, created a new box and cut and pasted the clues I had just copied to the new box clues. The bold items I had on the reserved box lost their boldness in the transfer. I've rebolded and it's fine now but I think losing the boldness is not what should be happening. The box is ABQ https://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.php?boxId=301022
