No, no serious replies. I stopped replying to the question. I've answered it multiple times, and I'm not wasting time answering this question anymore.

Really?

What about the question of getting back the multiple pages as opposed to one very long page for traditional finds in our logbooks?

your reply sounded a little harsh

Yeah, and now you know why I didn't want to reply. It's a topic I'm absolutely sick of.

Okay, to repeat for those who missed it:

I had to fix the logbooks to run faster. They were slowing down the system and I optimized them. After going through several iterations where everyone just got upset and hated every change I made, I basically said, "Screw it!" I'll do it how I like it and not worry about pissing everyone off since everyone was already pissed off anyhow. At least I was happy. Maybe I'll take another look at things after I finished the Jordan Trail.

And when someone explicitly asked about the green checkmarks, I replied with the same answer. Tough it out, and maybe I'll take another look at it later.

What about the question of getting back the multiple pages as opposed to one very long page for traditional finds in our logbooks?

Same answer. Tough it out, and maybe I'll do something about later, but there are reasons I put them all on a single page.

These changes weren't made to piss everyone off--there was a reason for them: to keep AQ humming along fast, efficiently and reliably. Nobody seems to care about that, although I suspect it would be a bigger concern if AQ went down often for long periods of time for no apparent reason. It's one of those perks people tend to take for granted until it goes away.

Anyhow, I have some thoughts about what I'll do with the logbook.

But for now, it is what it is, and when I've made any changes or updates, I'll make an announcement. This answer applies to all logbook questions. Tough it out for now, and maybe you'll like the next iteration of the online logbook.

I've noted all of your concerns and I will take them under consideration. I'll be happy to read your suggestions and ideas, but until there's news to report, I don't really have anything to actually say about the logbooks.

And really, you don't want me to reply to these messages because I won't have anything to say that you want to hear. I'm doing y'all a favor by not replying. *nodding* =)

Thanks for this website. I am just glad to have a hobby that is essentially free and supported by so many fantastic people who are very giving with info & help. For all those hours of trying to improve the website for the general good, my hat's off to you!

(It makes my brain ache thinking about coding & such😨. Glad it's not me!)

Just to be clear, that was posted by someone else.

To those who seem to feel that no one should ever complain or find issues with the site......that doesn't mean we don't recognize the work involved. It just means we have legitimate concerns and opinions and are free to express them.

If the discussion bores you, feel free to make use of the ignore button. I've certainly used it often enough when the same subjects have been gone over ad infinitum over the years.

I wish it *was* free. lol!!!!

Gas
Tolls
Carving material
carving tools
logbooks
ink
containers
Premium Membership (for some)
Not to mention the occasional hotel room when going to events/or campground fees

Not complaining, or I wouldn't have been doing it since 2004 but I don't think there is such a thing as a truly free hobby.

Hummm.....airfare and rental car for trip to L & B in Oregon in 2008. lol

The list goes on.....lol

Nuttin' is free in dis world! lol

Happy PAL Day. https://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.php?eventId=4176
If you can't get out to plant on Friday 24th, your plants still will be counted by the widget if you plant Saturday 25th. But you'll have to be sure that when you activate your letterbox plants, that you change the plant date to May 24th. Also the widget only counts letterboxes that have none for restrictions on the restriction page--that's the default so just don't change anything on the restrictions page, at least not until after PAL Day.

Logbook Updates
Board: Atlas Quest Announcements

Thread
So I've taken another whack at updating the logbooks.

  • The status of each box is now back.
  • By default, it'll only show results from the past year. You can delete the start date, however, to show all boxes, trackers, etc. if you need it.
  • If you change a search element, you have to click "update" to refresh the page. It won't auto-update anymore. The "update" button will wiggle and change colors when some of the search/filter elements have changed, however, to help remind you to click it.
  • Premium members will also have the option to filter their logbooks by name and end date.
  • Premium members will also be able to see their tags, green checkmarks and the usual small icons on the boxes.

The other big complaint that I've chosen not to do anything about is having all matches showing up on a single page of results. All results will continue to be displayed on a single page.

I love it all!! Sometimes losing something makes us appreciate it even more. Even small things like green check marks.

All of this helps me as I try to maintain my plants and dream about adventures to come. Bless you.

The date range is genius. Fabulous help.

The "update" button will wiggle and change colors when some of the search/filter elements have changed, however, to help remind you to click it.

It's also reminding us to do a happy dance about these new changes. Thanks, GT!

Thanks, GT! I especially love having the box status back - so much easier than having to click on each box! (Although I do have a search set up for my active plants, and have had for quite a while.) One question, and I'm just asking because I can't remember what the reason was for this, but any chance the unlisted finds will return to being merged with AQ finds?
Thanks muchly!

Not in the foreseeable future. That's a very slow process for large datasets and the whole purpose for my logbook updates was to keep AQ running fast.
