Look at the problem from a different frame of reference, and all the sudden it doesn't seem so "incredibly stupid". Hopefully these words will help others with other problems. We'll see.

We'll see!

off to my logbook! which matched perfectly up to the end of august... I'll find it and let you know

You might try running an advanced search and use the option to "show only type changes" (premium member option)--that will display boxes that have had their type changed. Combine that with all boxes you've found, and there's a good chance you'll find your discrepancy.

Not heard of 'Clue Tracker', so I inquired Google & got this...

Clue: Period, PMS, fertility & ovulation tracker on the App Store

Will this really help me on the trails?

The last time AQ was down, Box Radar wouldn't work either, which makes sense. I was on vacation and remember this unfortunate timing.

If you know where you are going to be the day/hours of the outage fire up BoxRadar now and scroll the map to that location and let BR suck up all the clues for that area now. Then during the outage you will have the clues and the map and you can write up finds and BR will sync back up with AQ the next time you use it.

New items in the AQ Marketplace!

The AQ Marketplace now has eclipse glasses for the August 21st total solar eclipse later this year and Opowieść o dwóch szlakach—a Polish translation of A Tale of Two Trails—a thrilling story about my adventures on the West Coast Trail and Juan de Fuca Trail. =)

I posted full details on the AQ blog at http://blog.atlasquest.com/2017/01/introducing-eclipse-glasses-and-my.html, but that's it in a nutshell.

Happy trails!

How funny that over two years later, I go looking for a thread on this topic and find that I started one!

I understand and agree with comments not being linked to finds, but I would like to be able to edit the date on comments that I make on other's boxes. I'm going back through my book and realizing that some finds I recorded using an app didn't really get recorded, so it dates my comments six months later. Sure, people should look at the find dates, but they may look at the comments separately and even print them out. An experienced boxer will sort it all out, of course, but there are many people who have not yet discovered most of the nuances of this hobby yet.

Maybe it's just part of the game, but I think editable comment dates would be a nice feature someday.

On LBNA I tried the "Comment Only" option on a series I found originally in 2010, thinking it would leave my original find date alone. It didn't, it left my comment and deleted the find. So I redid the comments of box maintenance with a the find date.
Microsoft email accounts

If you're using a Microsoft related email address (hotmail.com, outlook.com, msn.com, etc.), just so you know, they all appear to be rejecting email from Atlas Quest. I'm not sure why since I haven't changed anything recently and can't find AQ on any blacklists that might make them think email from AQ is spam.

But if you get AQ mail forwarded to one of those accounts.... those emails aren't reaching their destinations. All other email addresses seem to be working fine, though (including gmail.com and yahoo.com which are the most common ones people use), so if you have one of those, changing to that will fix things. At least until I can figure out what's the issue with those Microsoft accounts.

I also have not been able to email to a hotmail.com address that I use to be able to. I asked my host to look into it and they said they removed my IP from blacklists (didn't know I was on one), but still did not work. There is something going on for sure with the microsoft email services.

The benefit is that they now apparently have a mapping of e-mail addresses to passwords, and can compromise any account on any site where that e-mail/pw combo is valid. If true, this is actually a big deal.

So, this is kind of a late follow up on this. I was not too worried about this, because I use that password only for things that I would refer to as "not substantial" accounts. They are things that don't have any link to me financially, or personal information stored on them. Generally, I use a secondary email address for those types of accounts. The only place that I ever used that password and email combination was for letterboxing related stuff.

However, a few months ago my kids and I got a puppy. He's pretty cute, and the kids thought it would be funny to set up an Instagram account for him. I already have an Instagram account.... it uses my secondary email address. So in order to set up for the dog, I had to use my real email. It never crossed my mind to not use that password. Three weeks later, Russian porn peddlers hack my dog's Instagram account. I bet they were pretty bummed when they got in there and realize he was a dog with a half dozen followers, most of them in elementary school.

It shows though that, somebody is definitely using those email addresses and passwords. So if you have not changed your password in places that actually matter, DO IT NOW.

I'm sorry for your data breach, but this made me laugh! They must've been pretty disappointed.

It is definitely funny. I bet they were thinking "sweet...let us hope pawseidon_h has lot of followers weeth credit card and foot feti...wait...whaat is thees? He ees dog? All of hees followers are cheeldren and dogs?"

Needless to say, they had already deleted the account by the time I figured it out. Thankfully, they changed the name to some other crazy thing before they deleted it, so pawseidon_h rides again...

Only for the tourists; the locals have thicker blood so love a good naked hike in the 24 hours of summer daylight; easier to tan that way.
