I reread 1984 last year and it is so fitting to today. even more so than when I read it in the late 80s. Now Big Brother is everywhere.

The pervasive surveillance is not as in "1984", yet. However, it is approaching. For instance, the government doesn't mandate 24 hour surveillance, we have to buy our own spy-bot and it is (so far) voluntary.

At least we're not like China, which is much closer to "1984" than are we.

I'm organizing a humor themed event and I'm not a funny person! I'm a very talented gardener, cook, teacher, carver and other things... But I need help with funny series of stamps! Ideas, suggestions? Throw 'em at me!!!

Literally, I'm the person who laughs at the joke a minute later than everyone else...

"The Far Side" by Gary Larson.
I loved the desk calendars we would get at the beginning of the year with a new one of his cartoon/jokes to enjoy every day.
There have been several times that I thought how cool of an event that would be to have the stamps be Far Side images.
Anyways, just throwing it out there, probably copyright issues trying to rip the images off the WWW, but if someone saved their calendars???

Questions (‘cause I might have ideas), what is the time schedule for your event? And, are you looking for stamps or ideas that you will carve?

A new event has been posted for a planting and finding weekend at Colorado Bend State Park! This park is located in Bend, Texas, about 1.5 hours northwest of Austin near Lampasas. We will plant on Saturday, exchange clues Saturday evening, and find on Sunday. The theme for the event is "Humor" - carve whatever makes you laugh! It's going to be a blast!

Learn more about the event at https://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.php?eventId=4141

More details will be posted as the date gets closer.

Wish we could go. My favorite coffee mug is from there, and it just broke last night, so I need to replace it.
But, I'll be at a different state park that weekend.

Have fun!

I just participated in a visual pun ltc tracker that I thought was pretty fun so things along that vein could have funny images...

We were once part of a postal that shared favorite cartoons. Ours was of Snoopy piloting his sopwith camel against the Red Baron. Another postal shared the various inhabitants of Bikini Bottom. That was a fun one to receive.

As always, we host a summer event that's called "Come Fly a Kite". With several events going on in the New England area for July and August, we will not be having it this year. We will plan on having it again in 2020.

I've not done much boxing in the last few years. Inexcusable, I know, but trying to get back in the loop. There are so many breweries near me now, so I shall try to contribute.

If we do cross paths though, there is still this: https://www.atlasquest.com/boxes/clue/?boxId=11001

And there is this if you prefer another local beverage: https://www.atlasquest.com/boxes/clue/?boxId=98550

Cheers!

I am delighted to read all the lovely, kind comments arriving via AtlasQuest email. I recall with nostalgia how much fun we had last year at the original Whodunits event.

Thank you all so much for sharing your excitement and enthusiasm with me. Although I letterbox only occasionally, I thoroughly enjoy a good mystery, and tried to provide that for you.
