There's a reason that I use Comic Sans in all my letter carving.

Thanks. So I guess all those videos on the right side of the screen are the recommended videos. They do all seem to be ones I have seen or are interested in. I didn't associate that with subscribing. Somewhere I thought the person said "subscribe and get notice when I put out a new one"--I didn't remember seeing a bell, but when I hit subscribe it never asked for an email address, so I didn't know how I would get notice. I found her blog, though and subscribed to that, which asked for the address, so I'm good on that one. I'm very new to You Tube since I started watching the Zentangle videos.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I guess I didn't realize I was signed in--I thought I just put You Tube in the browser and it showed up.

Definitely can help with that. I only know one transfer method, but I could try out others. As for where to start carving? The details in the middle, but I can explain why in a video. Thank you!

What do you mean by that? To me an image is an image, but I haven't carved a tattoo image before. Is there a difference?

What terms do you search when you look for images to carve?

Sometimes I'll type in some abstract concept like jealousy, pinstripe or proud. You get some random stuff that probably wouldn't come up in a more specific search. Then I change the search type to images and select line drawing from the tools drop-down. I can kill hours doing this.

You are correct, an image is an image but my interpretation of the original question was what terms can be used to Google search for an image. I most often enter the item I am looking for such as a tree image by putting coloring book tree in the search line. I can do the same thing with tattoo, simply enter tree tattoo patterns and an array of images that tattoo artists use will show up. Some are carvable and some are not but it is worth a look.

particularly with faces, or any image based on stock/photo, my experience is that by far the most important consideration influencing the quality of the eventual carve is the tool used to *render* that image from 'analog' to 'binary' (e.g., pure black & white).

I know you specified Google but Pinterest has LOTS of images to work with. And their algorithm will point you to other imagery of the same type.

If you google clip art you’ll get different types of images than say woodcut or lino prints. Google tattoos and see what types of images come up. Typing in different search words bring up different kinds of images, perhaps more detailed or not.

Some more adaptive for carving than others. Search terms make a difference.

I have seen everyone talk about google images but I like to search for images on Bing (tho' I don't like Bing regular searches). Use whatever your looking for with B&W and line drawings as filters. You may have to add to the description to close in on what you're looking for.

Me too. The only time I ever use Bing is to Google “Bing Images”. Their filters are top notch. Like others, I search for coloring books, line drawings, tattoos, and silhouettes.

Sounds like you have the same problem with Google. ;~)

The answer is the same for both - creative search terms. One I try sometimes when I’m stuck is
{search term} + linocut.

A couple search terms that I haven't seen mentioned yet are to add either "stylized" or "vector" to the search.

Google just suggested "hand drawn" and that gave some interesting results as well!
