Where are they all?

Hey there! I'm planning a trip to PEI this summer, and I can't wait. While I'm up there, I'm hoping to grab some boxes on the way. Can anyone tell me if there are any letterboxes on PEI? I found four on LBNA. Are there any besides these?

I would like to know the same thing. I have found 3 of the 4 and will also be up there next month. I will be aiming to find that fourth one...but was wondering if there are others up there too.

Hey... just wanted to say that I was going through my things from my (amazing) NS/PEI vacation the other day and I found my little passport book from the Anne museums.

There are four Anne museums on the island, and each one has a stamp. Just ask for it at the desk, and they'll stamp your official Anne passport. They're not actual letterboxes, but it'll help you get your fix while you're up there, since there aren't many on PEI!
Question about the "other" letterboxing site

On letterboxing.org, has anyone else had a hard time searching for boxes in the Canadian provinces? I'm not planning another trip (bummer), but when I click on the Maritime Provinces, I can't get to any of the PEI boxes. I can only find them if I do a search and select the region. I hid a box in Charlottetown last summer, and I'm wondering if people are able to even see that there are boxes hid on this beautiful province (yes, I want to go back!)

Are there Anne of Green Gables boxes on PEI? If not, there should be! I loved the island when I was there (before the bridge)

I would love that too! I was just surfing a PEI website for Lighthouses and there is a 2006 island tour where you can stamp in an image of various lighthouses. Sounds a bit like the National Parks Passport.

Yes, there are some Anne boxes. Several were placed last summer, so I ended up missing some. If you're on the letterboxing.org site, you can do a search (not through the map) and select region as Prince Edward Island, CA. There aren't too many, but there are a few!

When I went up there, I did a Google search for PEI letterboxes, and then the page from the "other" site came up!

I know, by the way, since I was just there in August, that there are a few boxes there. Four of them are by RTRW, so if you go to letterboxing.org (THERE! I SAID IT!) and search by placer, look for boxes by her, and you'll see them in her list. :) I also planted two boxes while I was up there!

I planted a drive-by one in Cavendish. :) And I believe there is one just a few steps away from where I planted mine, which was put there just after I left. So now I just have to force myself to return to Prince Edward Island someday! (OK, if I MUST!!!)

Phyto and Isosceles will be journeying to PEI for a week.
As the LBNA site is down, we would be grateful if those that have placed boxes on this isle to share the clues.

You shall be rewarded.

Cheers,

Hi there!

Glad to hear that you're making the trip to our "little island 'way down by the sea"!

I can report that 9 of the 10 LBNA/AQ listed boxes are safe and spund -

Parliament
Spud Island (found Jul 26, I have updated clues)
Charlottetown Celebrates
Anne of Green Gables
Greenwich
OLeary Potato
Stanley Bridge
Panorama Park
one more whose name escapes me at the moment - will send later.
Cavendish is located in the PO (closed when we were there in May)!

I also have clues to a box from the LBNA basement "Strathgartney Park" which we werent able to get to in May as the park was closed. However, I did find The Beaver Mountain Provincial Park box by the same placers (planted in 2000). Pretty sure this one is still there. The park is only 15 min from Charlottetown, and was recently privatized after years as a provincial park. Clues are yours if you want them.

Also have clues for Abie's Irish Rose, in Cavendish, another "basement box", which should be findable if you do your homework ahead of time (we didn't :( )

Hope this helps.

PEI box "Pappa Are We There Yet?" is a concept I had to research with my aunt yesterday evening. Now, I am ready to design and carve. Hope to send it to PEI to be planted. My great grandfather JB Rendle was a farmer, captain, and cooper on Island at the turn of the century. Later they followed their children to Boston where he was a tug captain in the haba.Eaglewatcher who wishes this project had been finished in time to ask for a "boxlift".

I am planning my trip to the island this year...it has been a dream of mine since junior high when I read the Anne books. I am looking for any updated information about LB's on the island. The messages on the board were helpful but a bit dated.

Thanks

I'm so jealous! I was there three years ago, and found some of the few boxes on the island (there were some listed on LbNA). I planted one in Charlottetown, but it seems to have gone missing, and I'm not able to get back and check. You'll have a wonderful time since you're an Anne fan... my visit lived up to my expectations, and I'd love to go back!

Thanks for the response...I know it will be a great time...I have never heard anyone say they had a bad trip to PEI. Do you think your box may still be around or are you 100% sure it isn't? I could check just in case.

If you are going to be in Charlottetown, I'd love for you to check! I had two different people tell me they were sure they'd found the right spot, but the box wasn't there. I actually have a picture of the stump where I hid it... if you'd like me to email that to you (closer to when you go?) I'd be more than happy to do that.

My family and I go up every summer as my husband company is/was based up in Charlottetown. I have planted 2 (although one I had to pull as either someone vandalized it or animals got it. I was able to recover my log book though. (Due to other vacation plans we won't be going up this year...bummer) There is/was 11 on the island (that is how many I have stamped in my book), but I believe some have either been retired or went MIA. To give you a rough idea of time traveling wise (by car to the sites) O'Leary is about a 2-3 hour drive from Charlottetown. Kinkora is a nice scenic drive at about 45 minutes, Greenwich is about 1 1/2 hours and Little Sands (winery letterbox) is also about 1 1/2 - 2 hours...all from Charlottetown.

It's been a year since we were last up there and I'm not sure what ones are still active on not...but I hope that helps! : )

What is the box? I can check to see when I found it (last time I checked by letterbox journal with clues, I had found all letterboxes on the island). I can tell you when I found it.

Thanks so much for the information on LB's on PEI. I am soooo looking forward to my trip the first week of June. As you said, it doesn't look like a lot of those boxes are still there or still active.

I will be based out of Charlottetown the first 3 days and then Summerside the last 3 days.
Thanks for the travel times too.

Well I was on this beautiful island last month. While I was there I did leave a box. I just hope that is found before the elements do away with it.
