only because we tried to minimize the amount of time that someone's hands are exposed to the cold.

Just put some hand warmers in your pockets. And don't forget some gum for your breath ;)

I carry a pair of Kahtoola Microspikes

The same is true about Stableicers. (The original, not the LITE version). They are easier to put on since they velcro.

I'm a dog walker and I use these things when it's icy at the park. Love them. The metal cleats unscrew so you can replace them if they ever get worn.

Sorry, but I'm a huge fan of Stableicers. Been using them for years and they really work. I've had no trouble on solid sheets of ice. But it has to be the original kind with the velcro strap around the ankle, NOT the lame lite version with the stretchy rubber.

There is also/already a group for Southern New England Letterboxers which was formed to help boxers from CT, RI, and MA unite and communicate together. We have many members who are from other states because they like to box in SNE. It is a "private" group so that we can post more personal information and spam is not allowed. Boxers can also consider this group. :-D

Trapped in a room with a zombie
Board: State: Massachusetts
Mar 27, 2016 7:17pm
Thread
Is anyone interested in doing this? It's in Somerville. They lock you in a room with clues/puzzles hidden around that you have to solve in order to find a key that unlocks the door. The catch is that there's a zombie in the room, chained to the wall. Every 5 minutes, his chain gets a foot longer. If he touches you, you're dead.

Only 30% of the teams make it out alive.

My friends and I have it reserved for this Saturday April 2 at 12:30, but we need to fill 5 more spots.

I know this isn't letterboxing, but solving clues should be right up someone's alley.

Let me know if anyone would like to go. The cost is $30.73.

That sounds super cool and kind of terrifying. Unfortunately, I think my solution would include beating up the zombie rather than trying to solve the clues, because zombies are scary. This is probably against the rules ;)

Let us know how it is. I have one friend who did it, and all he said was "Some girls helped us and we got out." Nothing about if it was scary, hard, etc...

Thanks, but we did another one in Boston last year. We did escape, with 31 seconds to spare. There's one in Worcester now, that's a little cheaper and much closer that I'd like to do. And there's no zombie!!

I am, too, except that my non-escape room is called "Engineering." And the Engineering zombies already have brains, so they stumble around, avoiding eye contact and looking for coffee. If management ever cuts off the free coffee, there'll be a zombie apocalypse for sure.

In this one, they have a moderator in the room with you at all times. They say it's to protect the zombie :-) So it sounds like others have had that same idea.

Would love to if I lived in the Northeast. We did an escape room (without a zombie) with the family. It was a great experience. Escape in time or not it is really fun. At times I watched the interaction of my three adult children. Funny which ones take charge (or think they are in charge).

I would highly recommend this but only with people you are related to or enjoy hanging out. Time pressure and competition sometimes brings out unintended comments (or how the innocent comments are perceived).

Would be a hoot with co-workers.
