Adding our Thanks to everyone who helped make this Letterboxer's Christmas "Toys for Tots" so special. The tables full of gifts brought many warm feelings on a cold and breezy day! Extra car blankets being put to good use as capes with hoods! Shivering & Laughter. Appreciation for the nimble lying on the cold ground trying to reach just a little further. Must remember to mention the delicious variety of hot and cold pot luck yumminess!! Old Friends and New Friends, hugs and cheerfulness! <3BB

Thanks again to everyone from us as well. It was a lot of fun and I think we're getting the feeling for the whole "event" thing now! Enjoyed getting to chat with some new folks, yet again. Loved to see all the toys, also, and the music playing ... I am so ready to start Christmasing!

Our event was a tremendous success. This was our 9th Letterboxers' Christmas Event. At this point, we have provided the children of Southern Maine with approximately 3,350 toys and other items to date.

We couldn't do this event if it would not be for you, Our Letterboxing friends and family members. It is YOU who make this event so successful.

Just so you are aware, we have requested to attend another Toys for Tots event on December 1 by our person who picks up all the donations.

So from our heart and home to all, let us be the first to say Merry Christmas!

Letting off some Steam

I don't usually take a public stand but I am disgusted.

I will take some responsibility here for not stating "no black ink, please" but really? The Reindeer Round-Up was on loan to us for Letterboxers Christmas event. We could sit inside in the warmth and comfort of friends and ink up at our leisure. A herd of black reindeer is what was returned to me. We had ready access to water and paper towel. We have brown ink. A herd of black reindeer? I am not looking to point fingers at anyone person but I do hope all of you get a bottle of ink cleaner for Christmas!

Respectfully,

Another rant

So along the lines of Teacups rant. I have one as well. We planted the Wizard of Oz series in a cemetery two days before the event and a stamp has gone missing. Not happy about it since it should not have happened the day of the event. Four groups stamped in...after that it went missing! To put back where you found is not hard especially in a cemetery! If someone gives you a stamp to stamp put back where you found and let the next group or person find it. Do not tell them where it goes put it back.

It should not have gone missing two hours into an event!

Yes I know it happens a lot but not an hour or two into an event.

Thank you all who came and donated. We collected about 250 toys this year.

By chance, could some muggles have seen a group of boxers put the box back, investigated, and take the stamp?

It was a cold, rainy and VERY windy day... the only people crazy enough to be in a cemetery poking around were boxers - all noxers were smart enough to stay inside next to their woodstove holding their cup of Allen's Coffee Brandy ;)

One thing I noticed at my recently hosted event was that some people were not rehiding the boxes as they found them. I don't know why, if they figured more people were coming so they'd make it easier for them, or what? But, at some point, someone is the last person, and they needed to be hidden from muggles after the event. I don't know why the basic tenet of 'hiding better than you found it' doesn't apply at events, but it seems like people get lax about it.

Sorry about your missing stamp! Any chance someone put it back in the wrong place and it's still around?

I noticed this at L&B xx, some people just tossed the stamp in the area it was hiding. We almost didn't find one.

Ive noticed in large events, people all bunch up and sometimes people take a stamp over to someone and then they got confused as to where it goes. Ive also seen people take a stamp way over to a bench or something and then it gets rehidden at the wrong tree. People are in too much of a hurry and cut too many corners. Ive even seen people take all the stamps and bring them to their car so someone who can't or doesn't want to get out of the car, doesn't have to. Seriously I don't care, but jist return the stamp exactly where it belongs.

Thanks to Team MudCup for another superb LL Bean event, a focal point for Maine lore!! Plenty of ink for all in various locations and climate. We are beat and were only participants, unable to image how these two Maine boxing icons feel, rest well ladies, well deserved!!!!

To pull off something of this magnitude there are always others behind the scene. The hosts at the pre-gathers, Angel Treads, Nittany and Happy Daze a big shout out!! You had your hands full keeping folks at bay, as we all were anxious to get the ink. Last but certainly not least are all the carvers that contributed, a chance for us folks up here to see your talents! Ayuh, thanks!!

We are proud to be a part of the Maine family and of the letterboxing community!! Safe travels, stay inky.
