Is it set up as an automatic response? Do we need to have a battery pack on us?

There is a box down south that uses phone and e-mail. You have to send in the correct answer to get the next clue. My phone nearly ran out of power trying to find the boxes in the series.

So, I have be struggling with this year's event.

The escape room was sooooo much fun and it was a great theme. And it was a type of event that I had wanted to do for some time . . . which brings me to this year's event.

I really, really, really want to do a multi-day "camp". The problem for me and my crew is location. Location, location, location. It would be better for my crew and co conspirators to host this type of event in "our own backyard".... as in Lassen County.

Lassen County is just ripe for dozens of plants we can do for the event theme.

The problem of course for the attendees is Location, location, location. This is why we normally eye Reno for the events because it is closer and it is a big city and it has casinos and great food. But Reno will not work for all of the activities we have planned for "camp".

Now, one of the cool things about where we would like to host this "camp" is actually free to camp in and RV camp in. It's totally free. (But for RVs, there is no sewage dumping, though.) Hotel camping, though, is not free.

But if no one comes, then that would be super bad. (and a little hurtful)

So, that's the problem.

Using the theme, we have soooo many awesome ideas, like a smore's gathering, ghost stories telling, potlucks, a Beast in the Woods mystery, an escape room-that is separate from The Beast in the Woods, maybe a talent show, a really fun raffle . . .

It would be 2.5 days of camp related activities and letterboxing.

The event would start on Friday, go through Saturday and end Sunday afternoon. You don't have to do the "camp" activities, if you just want to letterbox the entire weekend. You would decide.

But I don't know what kinda of interest this would garnish. Now, I know I haven't said the actual theme, but it's a great one!

And just an FYI, I actually like the idea of the event starting off on Friday the 13th of September but we have also been eyeing the last weekend too.

So.... feedback, please! The more the merrier. Anyone who has ever attendant a Cat and Bird Production KNOWS my events have a cast and crew that are driven to having an AWESOME event.

LA is huge....where exactly are you staying/working. That can help us narrow down where you will be and we can better recommend boxes to find etc.

If you are downtown, I can highly recommend the Los Angeles Public Library, I just read a book about it (Library Book by Susan Orlean) and there are letterboxes there also....the area is also where the Black Dahlia was last seen, so you can visit those sites (and there are letterboxes) , I also recommend the Angels Flight funicular in downtown LA. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angels_Flight

There are currently two tall ships anchored in Redwood City. They should be here until April 9th if you want to come and take a gander.

They will then be in Oakland April 11th through April 23 before moving on to Eureka and other points North.

Thanks for the heads up, we'll definitely need to see them.

My great grandfather, Clarendon W Jackson, commanded tail ships for many years. The last of which was the barkentine Tropic Bird which he captained from 1896 until his death in 1904. The Tropic Bird was an impressive ship, making the run under her previous captain from San Francisco to Tahiti in record time. Here is my Tropic Bird letterbox and the following article is about the record breaking trip:

San Francisco Morning Call, March 14, 1894

Flew Southward The Crack Trip of the Tropic Bird.

The lofty trim white barkentine Tropic Bird is now the pride of the fleet that sails regularly between this city and Papeete, the capital of Tahiti. The Tropic Bird has broken the record. It cost her mizzen head to do it, but then there's the honor of it— just think!
Record-breaking seems to have become a fad in shipping circles. Captain Burns did not care to be out of the swim, so he just plunged into it with the Tropic Bird and started from San Francisco to Papeete in 17 days and 2 hours.
He left here with his vessel on January 1. The barkentine piled on canvas until she looked Ike a white cloud scurrying along the surface of the ocean.
Winds blew steadily and ever and anon a squall would break forth as if nature didn't like the way the Tropic Bird was doing business. Not a stitch of sail did Captain Burns take in until the morning of January 17, when the storm grew a bit serious. Then sail was shortened and none too soon.
At Papeete the blow increased in violence and before the strain aloft could be relieved the mizzen topmast was carried away. But the Tropic Bird broke the record.

Welcome to Camp Aint-Gotta-Clue!

Camp Aint-Gotta-Clue is located in good ole Lassen County, where we have the forest in HD!!!

This is a good ole fashion camp event over the course of 2 and half day event. There will be singing, hot chocolate, dozens of boxes and a whole lotta stars!

As we are going Into the Woods , be warned, you just never know who you are going to meet…

Cuz, I have seen Stranger things, mystical creatures and things that go bump in the night out there......

OR who you might save . . . because there's A Beast in the Woods mystery

OR who you might have to ESCAPE from . . . cuz there's a killer on the loose, and you may have to solve the mystery before the killer makes you his last victim and gets away......
