Well, I got pink stuff today, tracing paper and a speedball handle with four or five different blades. The only starter kit they had was missing items when I looked inside. I think the only thing I don't have are the directions.

I can probably find them online. I'm going to try craving a simple pumpkin for my postal ring....yikes! LOL

I have two pictures of the same pumpkin, a small one and a medium one. I put the small one on the "pink stuff" and now I'm not sure. I hate to waste a large piece of pink stuff if it doesn't come out right, but not really knowing where to go or start, I'm thinking the medium might be easier.

When I did my first carve I used the Tutorials under Toolbox on this website. I had the directions up and followed each step one by one as I carved. Just remember there is no bad carve, everyone stamp you carve gives you more experience at carving. Just go for it and have fun. I'm carving a series of stamps now for my first plants. Have fun and happy carving!

Well, I went with the smaller imagine. It's going ok. I'm going to post a picture, I think and see how it goes. One thing is...not as bad as I thought.

Thank you! The lines for the pumpkin and his eyes/mouth are very funny looking when they are stamped. I do like it though. For most of it, I think I was doing it "wrong". I was using more of a scrape motion. When I did the outside, I used the no. 2. It was more of a scoop out and went a lot easier..LOL

Like everyone said...it was fun and hopefully they will get better..LOL

Noxer hubbies just don't get it. It took awhile for mine to show any interest in what I was carving, but he still has no interest in going with me. Maybe in another 5 years he will join me. ;)

He's come with me and the kids. We did some on our recent vacation and he was a great sport. The kids and I love it. We still stamp his sig stamp when we go without him. The hard part, my kids get so excited they are not the most quiet about it..LOL I try really hard to pick ones that are quick and hopefully a little easier to not show...LOL

You did great! Now it just needs some color to it. Get out your colored pencils, color it in, it will look so much better to you then...or crayons, markers, what ever....I think its great that you are entering it in a contest, hope you win! Good luck....

I was scared when I did my first carve, but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I only have 8 stamps done so far, but I feel a lot more confident. Looking forward to seeing the pic of your first. :)
