Winter Blahs stamps
Board: State: New York
Jan 25, 2010 9:33am
I had to miss this event (boo hoo) but am wondering if the clues will be posted for everyone, and what I would look under to find them. I just have to get to that end of the world to do all of the great boxes there.

Woops, just found them listed. First nice day that I'm off, I'm going if my leg is up to it (Recovering from a torn meniscus and a torn hamstring muscle).

Oh, thanks Miss Moon. I must have found it and posted just as you were posting. I'm going for physical therapy but I'm going crazy not being able to hike. I just might try this series on a nice day, tho. I have to sit down a lot. I know the listing says 1 to 3 miles. Do you know how many miles exactly?

Its not too long I am not sadistic enough to keep people outside for five hours in the winter the average time to finish the series was about 2.5 hours there is some up and down... Also don't print the clues out quite yet I have a couple of things to fix..... should be 100% by tomorrow night.

Naw, we need to get a master like ArchimedesScrew to come teach, or Lockwench, or SHH, or mstrwndl, or electricmedic, or...oh there are so many...
Now that would an event....get all the master carvers known and gather them in one place to teach carving techniques...

I had missed that event, too! I think I might need to come out of letterboxing hibernation for that one.

Yep. I have not signed up yet since I don't do that until I'm 99% sure (room is reserved, etc). But I'm reasonably sure. Having a certain pirate there would really seal the deal. Heck, I say we head to the Mice house Friday night and make pies for her if necessary. I can make 'em from scratch-- homemade crust, everything.

Have you actually looked at the list of who's coming already? I am so excited. There are old friends, new friends, great boxers, legends, great companies and more...I am humbled by all the attendees....some I don't know YET. I do not claim to know everyone or everyone's carving talents, but we have some that I KNOW can carve well enough to teach a class on it:
The Wolf Family (yeah I inserted you), Esmerelda, Gargoyle Girl, Geometry Junkie, Lego Boy, Sally O, Scout, Claudia and Alex, The Travelers 4, MissMoon, Dale End Farm, Dixie, and Sahalie....Wow, and that's just a few of you.
I feel I need to get my carve on to hold a candle with this group.

Es, you know our beliefs: everyone can join that list at some point. It's a matter of willingness and time. I seem to remember a certain wolf that carved by chewing flip flops when she started, but now carves as good as anyone.....I still think no one carves as small as ElecticMedic....that guy needs a microscope.

Excellent!!
Well, Mice, you're going to have to sub for me that the Carving class.
I'm already signed up to do the I Love Lucy style pie making class in your kitchen.
I think we can schedule your Looting and Pillaging class right after that, Es. I'm sure there will still be other suitable rooms in the Mice house for it.
Wolf *who also doesn't seem to have a problem reorganizing the schedule for da Mice*

Wait a minute!! Didn't the event say something about Wolf needing to bring a boat? I'm starting to realize that there WAS a reason for that!
Can we at least do the eating pie BEFORE the walking the plank demo??

Actually, I think he should demonstrate the carving and then just hand all the layered stamps to his daughter, Little Red Mouse. She showed me how to line up his stamps when they were in NC (she's fantastic at it and SUPER cute). That would spread out the group a little so we aren't all hunched over him.

I was thinking that IF I can get a few certain boxers at the event, we would have demos at some point on: converting images to be carved, transfer techniques, paints, layering approaches, shading techniques in rubber, letter carving tips, etc.
These of course would be secretive and people would have to find, solve and follow the pirate map to get there.
