So, about two months ago I asked my youngest to toss the doggie pillow into the laundry room. I heard him go into the laundry room and then I heard him scream. Since we aren't screamers, this caused some concern. My eldest who heard his brother scream ran for him. And all of this I can hear as I making my way to the laundry room. My eldest reaches his brother and cried "Oh my God!" Now I going full steam . . . what oh my god, what? What? . . . I am expecting a rapist, a home invasion, a man with a gun . . . what I got was two (twins) kittens who apparently made their way into our house through the back door. These two little bundles of fur crying for food. . . I have enough animals . . . I seriously don't need nor want kittens. So I tell my eldest to give them some milk and I grab my cell phone. I call my boss, the "cat lady" . . . She is trying to calm me down and as we are speaking kitten number #3 comes running up to me, crying and purring and circling my legs. Someone has clearly dumped them in the alley next to my house. And now I am besides myself. It is freezing outside, what am I suppose to do here???? My house is not equip for kittens!

So, I do the best that I can and I get them situated in the laundry room. I then start trying to find homes for them. My friend takes the two boys, leaving the girl behind. I then call around the local rescue places. They are beyond capacity and one even suggest the local animal shelter. Well the local animal shelter gives them a week to get a home and then that's it. Well, I can't do that. So finally my husband says "just tell me what you are going to say and get it over with". We keep her. My husband suggests Anne Boleyn. That's ironic. My cat, who is pissed about this who situation, is Elizabeth.

So, Anne stays. And honestly it's a little fun seeing her grasp things and develop.

Today however, she landed me one of the best laughs I had in a long time. We feed the cats in the laundry room and we feed one on the dryer and one on the washer, so the dogs don't eat their food. This morning Anne heard me open the laundry room door and made a dash for her spot on the dryer. So she races past me, jumps into the doggie pillow and leaps for the top of the washer. Well, her jumping skills aren't very developed. She reaches about 3/4 of the height of the dryer and SPLAT . . . legs sprawled, and complete flat, she slides down the dryer, dazed and stunned by the brick wall she just hit, just like a cartoon . . . She has no idea what just happened. But it was the funniest things I had seen in a while!

How awesome of you to rescue those cats! I am an animal lover and rescue greyhounds.

We lost our 19 year old orange tabby, Karate (what can I say, the boys were very young) to kidney disease. A devastating loss but the weird thing is exactly one week before we lost her I get a call at work from my son who's just found an abandoned, 4 week old buff orange tabby kitten.
I race home, take him into the vet and demand FELV and FIP testing before we consider rescue. While the tests are "cooking" the staff at our vet clinic (most of whom I babysat while in high school) put the little beast in my lap, where he hunkers down and starts purring.

Tests are negative but he was litterally within minutes of death by dehydration, malnutrition and exsanguination by fleas. We clean him up and do round the clock nursing for about two weeks (during which poor Karate left us).

He is now 12 pounds of feisty, healthy cat (Tony Tiger.....my son grew up to be an animator). He is the spitting image of Karate and the center of my middle age life. Kudos to all who rescue!!

My daugher (19) brought a cat home from a Mall parking lot a couple of Decembers ago, full of fleas & ticks & respitory infection -took him to the vet & hid him in the basement. When I found out, I said no way, no how-we have two dogs-find him a home somewhere else! Long story short-two years later he got sick & we had to send him to kitty heaven. I missed him so much, we adopted one of my sister's kittens-she had 4, because a stray momma cat had kittens under her shed. I guess you can say I am a cat person now & he makes me laugh every day!!

That is so cool you have greyhounds. My brother has rescued 2 of them as well. They also have some little yorkie type dog. Funny to see them all together. You know which one of those dogs is in charge.

We did malamute rescue for decades but are now too old to deal with a "mixed pack" when two or three 100+ pound dogs want to kill each other, it take strength. We're down to our solo northern breed.....when he goes, we will down size a bit to 30 to 40 pound range.

Really fun kitty story slick kitty. We don't "rescue" but all of our animals have been rescues, either wandering in like your kitties, or gotten from a rescue org. They make fabulous pets. And, quite devoted. Sadly, the best is our current ... beagle who had the bark beat out of her. She is SO loving and devoted. Dedicated to pleasing us and so happy just to not have to live in a crate anymore. It is nice that she does not do the beagle bay, but sad to see her jump as if she is in trouble when she accidently barks!

Taht is so sweet that you took them in and made sure they were all going to be cared for. Too many people are dumping their animals right now because they feel they can't care for them. There's a much better way if you can't care for your pet then to dump them like trash.

Bless you for taking another cat in and for finding homes for the other two! Obviously, we are "cat people" (see trail name) at our house, we currently have two that we adapted from the shelter and I would have more if we had a bigger house!

You dont need bigger house Cat People! Just go UP! I saw a program where they made all these ramps and shelves along the top of their walls...it was painted in wacky colors--did anyone else see this? It was really neat how the cats went up and down. I would build it for my (dozen) cats but I would then fear for the birds' lives! They would be much too close to their cages then. Well, it probably wouldnt match my decorating scheme either....but maybe one room wouldnt be too bad....Terrio

We have a rescue beagle too! This is one of the breeds that I would have never had (knowing too many that just run from my days working at the humane society) but she is the sweetest dog! She belonged to an elderly lady that had to go into a home and does not really bark either. Having border collies and terriers, she is kind of like a breathe of fresh air because she is so laid back. She wasnt supposed to stay but...what's one more right? Terrio

Did it have a big 'tree' that had large holes in it for them to come and go also?
I have seen one with that all around the room and have told my son several times they need to do that so their cat does not have to RUN straight up the walls...funniest thing I have ever seen!
But that is the coolest thing to see a whole room with the stair ramps and shelves!

Do either you or Terrio have a link or suggestion of google title to look up something like this? I might be interested in doing that in my garage. I have been thinking of remodeling it so as to have a place for my two cats to get some peace from each other. Two males. My baby, I raised from a kitten is a skiddish one, and the newer stray is the dominant one. He runs my baby out of the garage and I am afraid if it gets any colder of what will happen to him. I have spent a ton of money on this new stray, but if things don't get any better am afraid I may be finding him a new home. This might not work, but it might make it easier for Nikki, my baby, to get away from Little Bit. I really wish there were a way to keep them apart, but doubt that's possible. New dog (inherited) in house has put my baby outside for good. sniff sniff. Wish they got along.
Thanks

I am terrible at finding stuff when I want it...but I did find something you might want to check out...I just typed in catwalks...and wow! Also How to make a cat room, and catsplay.com.
I made the mistake of going on youtube to see if I actually could find the show...but I get so easily distracted on there and got to watching all kinds of cat videos...too funny!
But these are a few to get you started...if I find the actual show I will let you know.
