You can really make something out of everything. Wasn't expecting those instructions. Thanks for sharing with us.

There used to be a couple women in Southern CA who would take pet hair and spin it into thread/yarn too. I thought it was neat...but spooky. And think of all those people who are allergic to their pets but try to ignore it with antihistamines...

I talked with a lady at a craft fair and she said that dog and cat hair were horrible to try to spin. I was mostly for the novelty of it.

Yeah...I think they charged a small fortune for it.
But I reckon it's quite a niche market!
It probably depends on the pet, too. Obviously, doberman hair won't make much of anything. But lovely long lhaso apso hair...or soft Maltese hair I can imagine turning into something worth playing with.

BAD PUN ALERT!!!! If really, really bad puns scare you, you may wish to avert your eyes at this point...
If you are really, really picky about those items, would that make you...(I warned you!)...

Of all your bad puns.....I think this one is the worst. :)
If this doesn't justify a groan button we'll never get one.

My American short hair orange tabby's fur would never spin or felt. It's too short and too smooth. My friend's long haired siamese's fur has this baby-fine undercoat that felts by hand. It is long and has something like little hooks on it. It works it's way into T-shirt material within one wearing and won't come out in the laundry ... I hand felted one bead the last time I visited, and plan to make one each time I'm there -- one good brushing session and you have enough for a half-inch finished bead.

Are you going to keep those beads for yourself, or make her something nifty with it? I think that would be a really nice surprise to make her a bracelet or something. Friendship article type deal.
Have fun,

I haven't decided yet. I might make her something with lots of black to go with Elvis' fur. She likes black. Maybe some sort of sculptural wall hanging thingy.

That sounds interesting, but a much larger item than I would have thought you would go for with those cat beads, ha ha. Sounds like a project that would take a long, long time. Go for it!
Would love to see what a cat bead looks like, is it furry, after all, or so tightly wound/tufted that it is slick?
Thanks,
OD
