If you're planting in the woods, and are going to buy tape anyway, you might as well use camo tape. It goes on like duct tape and blends in. Just google camo tape.

I love the camo duct tape. I buy mine at Wal*Mart. It is twice as much as the solid colors though, and solid black & solid brown work very well for hiding.

We agree....not to mention the camo duct tape just isn't as sticky as the others. It has a tendency to curl back at the corners in the cold weather.

I also buy mine from Wal*mart. I currently have rolls of brown and camo. I just checked, the rolls are identical in size, and appear to be made by the same manufacturer.
I have not seen any difference in performance levels between the two colors and I am pretty sure that all of the colored varieties on the display rack were the same price.
Go figure!!

When you are picking up the Camo Duct Tape, make sure that you don't get the kind that is for firearms or hunting bows. It is designed to come off easily, and won't stay where you want it to. Y~K b

Well, I hope that's not what I have............it just says "Duck Tape"
Nothing specific about firearms etc.......
Thanks for the warning though! Don't know that I would've thought about that!

The camo tape that I've gotten online is pretty much exactly like duct tape, heavy and uber sticky. I've had it on containers and it has stayed put during winter. I usually overlap it. Don't know if that makes a difference. And I don't know if the ones I've ordered from web sites is the same stuff as the ones at Walmart.

I suggest that when you plant a box covered with camo tape you consider if it looks like an explosive device and if, by its location, it is likely that law-enforcement will think it is one. I believe a camo taped box should not generally be planted in urban settings.

A paper bag and a briefcase also look like explosive devices, as well as pretty much any other type of container that appears to be hidden in an urban setting. Camo tape makes zero difference in this regard. If you want to keep law enforcement from getting excited, you should do either of two things: 1) use a transparent container so people can see what's inside without touching it, or 2) write the name of the letterbox, the word "letterbox", and "atlasquest.com" prominently on the outside so people can look it up on this site without touching it.

We have found several boxes that had their interior contents in a BIOHAZARD bag. I must admit every time we find one of these we hesitate and wonder if we should open it. One such box was planted on a military compound!
