Hey guys. I am thinking I need another (or change) my sig stamp. my trail name is a result of my genealogy and heritage interests. My website is dixiekin and another domain is mountainkin.org. the mountain and dixie part is obviously refering to my location and the KIN means kin folk or family.

My sig stamp is of a cemetery scene.
Oh yeah, I love old cemeteries especially those with unique qualities or those with lots of ancestors.

sometimes I just don't feel the stamp is the correct stamp for some of these beautiful log books I am getting in postals...or maybe I am just bored with it. I have thought of either changing my sig stamp or maybe even carving a couple more and using whichever one I am in the mood for etc. has anyone done that?

anyway...I don't know what to use as an image. I love everything DIXIE, southern or about the mountains. I also love raising baby chicks of all kinds (especially banties)
and we play softball and/or baseball all the time. Everything we have ever really done on our own has had DIXIE associated with the name so I tend to lean toward keeping that name of course but I am at a loss for the right image.

any ideas??

What about Dixie Chick? Use a bantam chick for your image with the mountains in the background?

Well, you *could* combine some of these ideas--I was thinking of somone sitting in a rocking chair on the porch with baby chicks around her, or maybe a picture of someone out on a lawn with baby chicks around her and a mountain in the distance. Or you could show a stamp with you playing baseball with some baby chicks on bases and a mountain in the distance, if you want to do something a little more quirky.

I wasn't sure about suggesting something so elaborate, but when I looked at your stamp, I figured you could probably do something pretty intricate--the stamp you have now is great. The cool thing about doing an elaborate stamp like I'm suggesting is that you can get something that is more "you" because it includes more of the things you like.

BUT--if you don't really feel like carving a new stamp, I wouldn't worry about your stamp being inappropriate. That's what I love about this game--pretty much *everything* is appropriate, because it represents some aspect of a person. That being said, though, it sounds like what you might be getting at is that even though you are fond of cemeteries, you now want to express something more about yourself.

Maybe what you could do, if you do decide to carve a new signature stamp is to use your current one as a traveler to use at events and if/when you meet people on the trail. You could even set up clues to get it, as a lot of people have done.

As for people using different stamps at different times, from what I'm reading, people not only do that but use entirely different trail personas for different boxes. And speaking from the standpoint of acquiring cool stamp images, I think it would be kind of fun to know that there was more than one stamp for a person. I think that's one of the reasons behind mutiple personal travelers.

Well, I guess I should admit something. I am easily bored with things. I guess I feel like I need to mis things up a bit. In many ways there is no way to better give a visual representation of who I am that my sig stamp except maybe if I had different ones that portrayed different moods etc. I do like my stamp now but I also wanted something new or different...and it may be mostly because i may be a bit on the bored side with my stamp. That's all I guess...plus it seems like a harsh image to me and sometimes I feel like it isn't appropriate to how I LOVE to laugh.

Maybe you could use a rainbow pad or change the individual color as your mood changes when you stamp in?

You can have more than one signature stamp. What ever is fitting for the moment.

This is sorta what I hoped folks would find exceptable. I may end up going back to or sticking with my dixie & mountain cemetery scene but I think I might just do a bit of experimenting. Sometimes I just don't want to stamp in with a gloommy looking cemetery scene even though it is very fitting to my backgrounds or interests in genealogy, civil war, the mountains, dixie and old cemeteries and heritage.

I want funny stamps too. I carved a funny, joking type stamp last night (actually 2, one very simple but cute). I have another idea for a dixie stamp that ties in my love for dixie and chickens or chicks. I hope it works out. No telling what moods/stamps I may come up with.

so, yes, I think I will try different images based on my mood etc and see how it works out. Then the challenge for you guys will be to get them all over time. You guys who do PLBs with me should have a good chance at it and it might just be fun. I hope so.

now...speaking of PLBs...I have several here that I need to get to tonight. so...so long for now...I think I have maxed out my posting limit/abilities today with the LOST discussions.

LOL

I was going to suggest Dixie Cup yesterday, but I wasn't sure how you'd take it. I personally think that would be hilarious to find stamped into a letterbox.

Dixie Cup...

that is a cute idea!!!! especially when you if you realize our history with softball. When my girl was smaller our first fastpitch softball team (our own team) was called Dixie Pups...as they got older it was just plain "Dixie". people used to think we were called Dixie Cups...it was hilarious.

even without that history...Dixie Cup is a very cute idea. Thanks.

I like your DixieKin stamp but I can see your desire to have some fun stamps, too. I agree with folks about having several. You can also do them as personal travelers. I know some boxers that have 4 or more personal travelers reflecting all aspects of their personalities (and even pets!). I just created my first and found it to be adictive. You have such a creative mind that I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Take care, Orion
P.S. Thanks for all the Lost insights!

Dixie Chick,

Have you thought of making your stamp a sillouette of a disposable cup with a fluffy little chick carved in relief for the cup's decoration?
