American Idol slipped tonight

The show isn't over yet but I can't believe how BAD some of the contestants did. With all the wonderful songs out there I can't believe some of them picked what they did. Taylor Hicks and Chris Daughtry is still the absolute best there with Pickler coming in third but good grief did she ever bomb tonight.

Chris picked a decent song...we have been hoping he would do some Creed but he did the wrong Creed song. "What If" was too strong. He is better than that! Do you guys remember when He did "Wanted dead or Alive"? he sang Bon Jovi under the table. If I was Jon Bon Jovi I would have tucked my tail and ran cause Chris rocked it out!!

Taylor Hicks was good (always is)...bottom line...but not his best tonight. I still say he needs to sing "I gotta woman" by Ray Charles or some CCR (John Fogerty). Taylor always gives me goose bumps.

Pickler should have NEVER picked a song like that at this point. Besides...her voice just doesn't do a Sarah Evans song justice. But boy oh boy did you guys here her do Patsy Cline the other night?? WOW. but tonight...thumbs down!

and all I can think to say about Bucky is ...What the heck was he thinking?? Ughh!

I was so excited to see the performances and the show has left me wanting....something...called entertainment. Taylor was by far the best from my usual favorites and probably the whole show.

I've been wondering why he's even still in the show since the top 12. I think it's only a matter of time for him...oh, say, about an hour and a half (hopefully).

I voted differently last night than usual. I usually vote for Chris and Ace, but I had to support Mandisa last night. I respect her for standing up for her beliefs in that atmosphere. Simon summed it up for the judges; they didn't get it. Paula tried to be positive, but her "Church of Mandisa" comment showed that she didn't "get it" either.

I agree with you completely, Weyrwoman! About Mandisa AND Bucky! The ironic thing is that this week was the best performance I've seen of Bucky's!

I didn't think Pickler was all that bad, but the judges were right it was not a good song for her. I have only been watching the guys since the top 12 started (it was hard enough to get DH to consent to ONE AI show a week, two just wasn't going to happen :) The only guys I really like are Chris (I really liked his version of Walk the Line) and I think Elliot is not too bad when he has the right song. This week was the first week I really enjoyed Taylor too. But on the whole I don't think the whole group was as bad as the judges made it out to be. They seemed particularly harsh compared to some of the stuff they've praised in the past. I suppose it was "time to get serious" week.

I hope Pickler does some more Patsy this week!

And hey, was Lisa not just the most graceful loser? Nothin' but smiles. Go girl!

I'm biased because Taylor is probably my favorite of the male vocalists, but I really loved this week's performance: I thought it was understated, subtle, and elegant. A nice change from the usual mic-devouring stage antics that everyone is usually up to.

Chris seems to be a one-trick pony, though. It really bugs me that he was (until this week) praised for taking the theme and sticking it into his alt-rock mold when everyone else is usually criticized for not coming out of their comfort zone. I don't understand why it's ok for him but not for everyone else. His Johnny Cash song was actually a Live cover; his Stevie Wonder song was actually a Red Hot Chili Peppers song, so the comments about making these songs his own are really surprising. And this week he just shouted at me; his performance really put me off. I thought it was refreshing to see him get called on the alt-rock same-old-same-old this week, and a good wake-up call for him.

I thought Paris really nailed her song. I was very impressed. Mandisa also always wows me though the song choice this week was kind of ehh. Not her best, but her not-best is always better than Ace or Pickler. I also really like Katherine, though this was an off week for her vocally, and continued the tradition of off weeks in wardrobe. Who sent her to get dressed at the ren faire?

Poor Lisa. I always felt so bad for her when it looked like she was gonna cry or barf onstage, but she's a talented girl and very gracious. This competition was a little too much for her and I think she knew it, but the girl gets an A for effort.

Bucky is a talented guy but never memorable. Ace is pretty but he doesn't have the vocal chops to last much longer in this competition.

And where's the Elliott love? That guy is super talented... I'm looking forward to him really busting something out and blowing us all away.

Sorry for the long-winded post... I don't have anyone to talk to about this show at home! :)

have you seen how long my posts have been recently...about American idol and Lost??? and lordy mercy don't get me going on what I DON"T like about survivor this time around.
Oh, and 24 is still Da Bomb!!!!

anyway...Elliott is very talented but he is VERY forgettable. I can NEVER remember what he sang when the show is over...NEVER.

Taylor is ALWAYS and forever my favorite. He absolutely DID nail his song and it was beautiful and elegant. I agree.

Chris...you know what...I still stick by saying I think he picked a song that was too "hard" for the show and he screamed it. but...when Chris does change his way like Simon said...he will probably get blasted for that. This is one of the only times I disagree with Simon. He is usually right on.

Bucky...i didn't ike him as much this time as many of the other performances.
Pickler too. She is waaaay better than that...so is Chris!!

see...I am long winded too. :~)

lol! I have found many of the wardrobe choices SERIOUSLY disturbing!! at least she didn't look pregnant this week!

oh yeah, and I'm glad it seems someone told pickler to lay off the makeup! she's too pretty to be so painted.

She's okay, but I dissagreed with Simon when he said she was better than Carrie Underwood. Also, sometimes I wonder if the Airheadedness is just an act. I realize she may not have "gotten out" much, but come on.

was Lisa not just the most graceful loser?

She showed a lot of class for a 16 year old. I think she'll still be making albums one day.

Elliott is an awsome singer, but I wonder if that can pull him through with all the more memorable personalities of the other contestants.
