Congrats!

My wife and I are very new to this game (letterboxing now for all of 20 days) and we just found our first HH yesterday! It was so cool to find a "bonus" inside another box. I hope your HH travels far and wide and you are able to track it journeys.

Opening the box
reveals a delightful gift
hitchhiker inside!

This is something that geocaching doesn't match. They have travel bugs, but you know they are there in advance because they're listed on the cache sheet. HH's are a complete surprise, no way to know there's one in the box until you open it. That is a really neat feature.

As a travelbug owner that's been around the world and is still travelling (since 2002) I love to know where it has been dropped off. The other advantage to TB owners is if the unfortunate should happen and a cache that is holding the TB goes missing then the TB owner knows that unfortunately their bug is gone. There's closure.

Today I went to check on one of my letterboxes. It is definitely gone. If there was a hitchhiker in the box I will never know and unfortunately neither will the HH owner. If the HH was reported to be in the box then I could email the owner to tell them the unfortunate news and to stop them wondering for years if they're letterbox is still travelling and when they'll hear from it next.
