I think that they captured the old magic, of the "Old Murphy". (You'll understand when you see it.)
About half way through, they skewered Hillary Clinton (using the actual Hillary Clinton), but then they returned to their usual Left Lean. I did really enjoy how much they skewered Hillary Clinton though. It was as enjoyable (and as thorough) as when they skewered Donald Trump in "The X-Files" episode "The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat".

It has promise but I really wish they’d lose the laugh track.

If the jokes aren't good enough to stand on their own, the laugh track just emphasizes it.
They've done it to several of the British comedies too.
Very distracting.
I find it interesting that the same laugh sequence is repeatedly used.
The fade out of laughter is unnatural.
