AUGHHHHHHHHH!!!

They sit in the corners, laughing at me, daring me to cut them out, knowing full well that 99.99% I will accident cut into a main line of the stamp and ruin the line, hence ruining the stamp!!! Goddamn them, those lil pink bastards!

I spent two The Conjuring lengths carving a stamp (I keep the movie on for background noise), and those lil bastards are JUST breathing at me! AUGH.

And if it's not the pink tags in the corner, it's the thin line between love and hate right next to a main line of the stamp.

And please don't get me started on little pink bumps that seem to appear even though you didn't carve the bump in the line in the first place. Those little pieces of poison just mock you to re-carve the line..........

pink tags!!
thin lines between love and hate
poisonous pink bumps

AUGHHHHHHHHH

I just want to carve at least one excellent stamp for Sleepy Hollow, because if you can see the ones that have been donated, trust me, I fail--in--comparison.

Shoulders sagging, deep sigh.

I feel your pain. I too make those mistakes. I’ve learned though that #11s and tweezers are my friend.

We all have our carving demons I suppose. Just when I’m starting to feel better about my abilities, another tracker shows up on my door with examples to strive for.

Sending hugs.

I use some rubber cutting scissors or the straight edge speedball cutter to cut excess rubber away from the corners/edges of the rubber. This helps get rid of the stray marks, which is what I assume you mean by "pink tags".

I hate it when I carve some stray rubber away at the end of a carving and accidentally cut away something that I wasn't supposed to.

That being said, chances are... no one else will notice the mistake and they'll still think the stamp is great!

I think they were referring to when you pull a cut piece and it breaks off at the end, but leaves a tiny piece tucked in a difficult corner.

The regular stray marks are called "chatter" in the lino world, so I figure it works for rubber blocks as well.
