5th Annual Black Friday Survey

I wish I could say that I spent Black Friday Letterboxing, but not this year - again. This year I worked on Black Friday, it was like a ghost town. But at least I wasn't up at 4 am like I used to do years ago. How about everyone else, what did you do?

For an informal Survey,

Click "Agree" if you spent the day letterboxing or doing something letterboxing related
Click "Disagree" if you were part of the Black Friday shopping crowd
Click "Funny" if you decorated or did something to get ready for Christmas
Click "Interesting" if you had to work black Friday
Click "Educational" if you went to a museum, theme park or other attraction
Click "Huh" if you ate too much turkey yesterday and couldn't get moving today
Click "Hug" if you did something else

Can't wait to see what you were all up to today. :)

I carved a stamp. :) We also decided to participate in #optoutside by taking one of my dogs to lay a scent trail for a local pet tracker search group to use as practice to train their search dogs.

I hung stockings, printed and cut out activity related things for the elves, washed dishes and clothes, and I carved a stamp but for our school not for letterboxing.

Well...started the day with "HUH" and to be productive without moving I went on to "AGREE" and prepared a number of boxes to be planted for a future event. By the afternoon my hubby was getting restless so we moved onto "HUG" and went and saw "Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them." Having prepared the boxes yesterday, we got up early today and spent the day hiking and planting a series. Hope everyone had a good weekend and safe travels tomorrow to anyone heading home.

I carved 3 stamp donations for the Pokemon trainer event next summer in Oregon. I am in the middle of carving several more for that event also. I HATE black friday shopping! Period. :)

I celebrated another year I don't have to work in the busiest and most chaotic mall down here! 6 years I did it and I don't ever have to be on the other side of the counter on Black Friday ever again!

That said later in the afternoon we did go go Target for lights for the tree and it was fabulously empty. Then we went to Walmart to find bubble lights. No dice. Then we went to the Xmas specialty store and left with more LED lights, bubble lights, and tree fluffing advice. Thankfully we did not go to the one in Hialeah, since a giant ding dong the fidel is dead party broke out late at night and hasn't stopped since.

Today we lit the tree and went back to target for returns and more purchases, got all approximately 19479 boxes of Xmas stuff out of the attic and hung our outside lighto up. Tomorrow, more returns since we are batting 1000 on things not working; my Finding Dory blue ray keeps stopping. >_<

I shopped on black Friday once. It was in the afternoon, after all of the rush. I still got a deal on my very first DVD player, so you can see how long ago it was.

However, any large brick-and-mortar retailer who starts their black Friday sales before black Friday doesn't get my business until at least January of the next year. It's the usual suspects again this year. It's just too bad that T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods don't have anything that I want to buy, because they advertised that they didn't open until actual black Friday.

My daughter and I made our annual Black Friday trip to our local art museum. It's so much more peaceful to look at ancient statues of Nero and Caligula than to deal with the shopping crowds. (Maybe their subjects would have preferred Black Friday crowds to being ruled by those two, though!)

By special request from my granddaughter I too went shopping. But . . . the air conditioning in the mall was broken so it was hot as hell in there and most of the shoppers were dressed in winter clothing. So most everyone left and the mall was not crowded. Nothing like shopping in a sauna. That was my first Black Friday shopping in over 20 years. Oh, and I saved $30. Only bought one pair of shoes.

My youngest hosted a "Gilmore Girls" viewing for a few friends. After chauffeuring, I puttered around the house. made more rolls for the Saturday family celebration and read a little bit.

Now that the dinners are over, I'm ready to start thinking about Christmas--slowly!

I wanted to go hiking, but it was drizzling out. So we just drove home from the inlaws. I did realize I needed coffee for the morning, so we went to Target forgetting it was black Friday. We went ahead and got the kids Christmas outfits because they were 30%off with an extra 15% off thanks to the cartwheel app. We saved $18 so it was a happy accident. ;)

Went hiking and planted 2 letterboxes in Arkansas with my letterboxing daughter and 4 grandchildren, plus two non-boxing fellas. Opted out. Peaceful and beautiful.

My dad had a heart attack Wednesday night, just before Thanksgiving. There were no surgeons on Thanksgiving, so Friday they tried to insert stents, but it didn't work. Luckily, they were successful Monday night, and he is now safely back home. Phew. That pretty much put all hobbies on hold. Now I am back to Salsa dancing. Too rainy for boxing.

I am so glad your dad came out ok. That was not a fun Thanksgiving or Black Friday.
