I heard good things about this Netflix original show and decided to finally check it out.

I am about to watch the fourth espisode . . . and I am like all invested and involved. I can't believe it! Augh! I've been suckered in.

So, a little background . . . it's set in early eighties and it starts off with a experiment lab escape and the disappearance of a 12 year old boy name Will. The most recognizable person in the series is Winona Ryder, who was famous in the eighties. Anyways she plays Will's mom who is hysterical but sees "something" that's the truth . . . the truth that of course no one believes. I have my suspicions as what is happening but again, I have only watched three episodes.

For me, this show is a cross of the movie Watchers with Corey Haim, Poltergeist and some 80's style alien movie. It's not cheesy or corny. But it's sad and at times hard to watch because well, you have hope.

LOVE the miniseries..... To the point where I will likely plant a box or series in honor of the show sooner than later!

Stranger Things was awesome, glad you're enjoying it. But I'm kinda confused by the subject, "Damnit!! I've been suckered in!!" It really makes it sound as if: a) you didn't want to watch it in the first place, and b) you're mad now that you have. Why? It's one of the best shows in its genre to come out of the US in years!! The ONLY things I've seen recently that were as good are The Fades (British) and Les Revenants (The Returned) (original French version, not the crappy American adaptation). If you liked Stranger Things, I definitely recommend these two shows also.

I've been waiting for someone to post about this! DH was gone on business and Sunday night I thought "I'll give it a whirl." Hook, line and sinker. I finished by Tuesday. Now that he's home, I told him I would rewatch it if he was interested in seeing it. We watched episode 1 last night and he LOVED it. So tonight, we'll probably binge watch the other 7. It's great and I loved the touch of Goonies that is had. Dustin is hilarious and Winona Ryder was amazing as the mom.

Probably because Netflix leads to binge-watching. I never watch tv except for the Olympics. But for some reason I started watching whatever that show with the meth lab was. Oh yeah, Breaking Bad.... Watched all 6 seasons in 2 to 3 weeks, that's 3 hours of TV a day, which is more tv TOTAL, than I have watched in about 5 years. I would get like 5 hours of sleep at night and then go to work. Netflix is not good for me, that is for sure!

Because when I posted this at 10:28 pm last night, I had just been suckered in by my 12 year old to watch the 4th episode . . . when he should have been in bed, an hour prior . . . LOL! Yep, bad mom here.

I tell you what it really is . . . it's like a good book you can't put down, even when you have work in the morning. ;o)

Stranger Things has been recommended to me as well. Unfortunately we do not get Netflix, so I will be way behind by the time I watch it. I really enjoyed the French version of The Returned, I also agree that it was much better than the US version.
And I understand the "I've been suckered in!" comment. As a woman who works (I don't have kids, so if you have kids you have even less time for frivolous things!!) I don't have a lot of free time for TV watching. Many times I combine TV with stuff like doing laundry or cleaning the kitchen. If a show makes me sit down for several hours and just watch...it is bitter sweet. I love being entertained like that, but it does not get the clutter out of the guest bedroom or the dirty dishes out of the sink.

I read CSK’s post about “Friends from College” and went to add to my queue. In typical Netflix style, other suggestions of things popped up. Stranger Things caught my eye, and I thought I should check this board to see if it was recommended. Haha! Yes, by CSK and others. From 2016.

I’m always hesitant to watch shows in the first season as many don’t make it past a season or two. And then I feel I’ve wasted my time.

How was season two of Stranger Things? Is the show still recommended?

I just watched the first two seasons last month and fell in love with Stranger Things. The show reminds me of a combination of my two favorite shows: Buffy and Freaks and Geeks.

Would you believe I was just thinking about Stranger Things this morning and reflecting on the character Steve and his development in Season 2. I think his role and friendship with boys, especially Dustin, was my favorite part in Season 2. Many people don't know this but Steve was supposed to be dumped and never heard of again in Season 1. But the audience really liked him and the Duffer brothers actually re-vamped the script to keep him.

Anyhoo, if I were to rate the two seasons, Season 1 is definitely a 10 and Season 2, probably an 8. Both very good seasons that open and close by the end, so if they didn't make another season, there are no loose ends.

The big difference in Season 1, I think the Duffer brothers took their time and let the audience fall in love with the characters. And, oddly enough, the application of a great sound track. Season 1 has tremendously powerful scenes/moments that we now see in our daily lives, such as the string of Christmas lights with the alphabet. And the fact that we had one human villain and one monster villain.

Season 2, this all changes. We already know the characters. We already like and trust them. We get new characters, some we like, like Lucas's little sister, others we really don't. Season 2 actually leaves our safe little down of Hawkins, Ind., which I don't think I was ready for, but not my show. Not a great sound track and yes, I'll say it, Winona Ryder over acted a bit.

There will be a Season 3, which is great and I am totally looking forward to it.
