I've only been letterboxing under 2 months. I've logged over 70 finds which I guess is good or maybe I'm slow lol. I'm interested in carving, events and I just don't really know how to kick things over to be a veteran boxer. Kinda flying blind so any tips or tricks would be great.

70 finds in that amount of time is great :) Lucky you to live in an area with so much to offer. I cleared out everything within a 3 hour radius of me. Events are great. Just find one near you and sign up. Everyone is super friendly and happy to help out. There are lots of boards on here for trouble shooting with carving. I think the real way to become good at carving is to just do it, experiment and practice a lot. I don't know how someone becomes a veteran boxers either, besides starting and staying with it :D so stick with it.

Yes, you should post your state on your profile, and look at your state (or area of country) board. Check out the Events tab. Once you've met up with some other letterboxers, you'll feel much more like a "veteran". Carve your signature stamp, if you haven't already, so you can do Exchanges with people at events. Though you can do just fine with a storebought stamp, (and many do!) I found for me, it felt more personal to have my own carved stamp. Plus, you said you were interested in carving, anyway.

So by now, I'd also recommend you plant a few letterboxers! Getting the feedback on your letterboxes really makes you feel involved. It's so fun!

70 boxes for one year, for not attending an event is a lot! I've only found about 25 this year. But I have a few events coming up and hope to find about 75 at one of them!

I'm a big frisbee golfer and the one thing I realized is that people plant in parks..... A lot. And it just happens that I'll go disc golfing and spend 3 hours LBing after. It's a fun meditation out door type lol

Irish Ref is trying to put together a meet and greet event in Cincinnati at the end of the month. This might be a good opportunity to meet some local boxers.

Also, post to the Ohio Board and let them know you're new and looking for mentors. http://www.atlasquest.com/boards/messages.html?boardId=271
