Gone Mushroom Hunting
Board: Stamp Carving and Mounting

Yes, it's May again. I'm going to be a bit sporadic in shipping out packages this month, so please be patient with me as I go tromping out in the wilderness with my family as we search for fabulous fungus. The good news is that, since Stampeaz and I moved, I am no longer hundreds of miles from the family mushroom grounds, so I'll be catching up with orders from time to time - rainy days do happen occasionally. Just don't expect the usual quick turnaround times and you won't be disappointed with the delays. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience and will get things into the mail just as soon as I can.

This family time is important to me and I appreciate your understanding!! Oh, and the Spoiler Alert for May's invoice image will be posted on the Blog tomorrow, so if you want to be surprised, don't peek. :)

Mmmm. Mushrooms! I wish I knew where to go to find good mushrooms. And which ones to pick without poisoning myself.

Thanks!! :) The woods are beautiful, but not too many mushrooms yet. There will probably be a bloom after yesterday's rain and the slightly warmer weather, though. We're hoping! :)

I posted a reply to you on the blog, but you may have missed it. Check with your local extension program - they frequently have mycology experts who will help get you started. Sometimes they even have field trips to take people out into the woods and show them what to look for and what kind of environment a particular mushroom likes. Just a thought, if you're really interested in getting started with 'shrooming. :)

An extension program is a department within a college that offers classes to local residents interested in learning new skills or information. Extension programs were designed to educate entire communities. Unlike four-year universities and colleges, and community colleges, extension programs aren’t completed for credit. Individuals who enroll in this kind of program take classes purely to advance their knowledge in a subject. Because extension programs don’t grant degrees of any kind, classes are informal and flexible.

Anyone, no matter his or her age or education level, can take part in an extension program. Though classes are taught at a college level, there are no enrollment requirements. In some areas it is known as Continuing Education.

I think the Extension Program is largely an American thing - not sure there is anything by that name or function in Canada. I could be wrong.

Yeah, it would be a "Continuing Education" program here. Unless they call it something different out west.
