Board: Yakking It Up

Today I was sorting out some tracker mail. I pulled a label off of an envelope that I've had for a good month now. Underneath was the cutest little Quisp. A tiny leaping frog. The name even had the word "jumping" in it. And of all the days for me to find this, today: February 29th.

I would love to hear any other stories of letterboxing coincidences :-)

I love quisps! I try to remember to tuck one away in every postal. Finding one is just lagniappe-a little bit extra.

I consider this a coincidence: my husband liked to letterbox with me. A few months after he died and his headstone was in place, a letterboxer who we didn't know planted a series of boxes in that cemetery and used my husband's grave as one of the clues. This is in a very large cemetery with 30,000 graves!

I contacted the boxer and told him about it, he offered to change the clue, but I asked him to leave it as it was, because my hubby would love being part of a letterbox clue! -Rose

And I remember the wonderful series you had in that cemetery, all about his favorite things. Very sweet and very moving.

I took a Miss on a letterbox, because it was lightning and pouring down rain. When I looked up the name of the letterbox it was: Water Cycle Series: Precipitation.

I went back 2 years later, on a sunny day, and found it.

I had a very similar experience with a quisp. I was breaking down some cardboard boxes and throwing away old mailing envelopes in the basement. I came across an envelope that had been sent to me years prior, when I hadn't yet heard of a quisp. I thought, just maybe there's something under there? And yes, there was! 5 years later!

I'm from Kentucky and was on a vacation to Pennsylvania. I went out to find a series of boxes the day before I left, and found a HH in the last box- from Louisville!

I was on a vacation in North Carolina last spring and found a 10 year old HH made by a friend of mine (for her husband's birthday) in a box. Needless to say, I brought it home and gave it to her! It was a birthday present all over again (10 years later!).

I was in Chattanooga a few years ago, and ran into some other letter boxers, and did the whole "which way is north" routine. Well, then I found out they were letterboxers from Florida, (Seibran) from the next town over from me.
