Oct 3 and Oct 10 helpers needed at Girl Scout event

The Girl Scouts have once again asked if some letterboxers would like to have a "booth" at their Troop Roundup events. Oct 3 is in Troy (north of STL) and Oct 10 is in Pevely (south of STL). I can probably do October 3rd but could use a helper or two and I would love if someone would want to take on October 10.

The benefit to us is that this is an opportunity to train scouts and their leaders about how to letterbox in a RESPECTFUL and successful way. You know what I mean.

I have this down to a science and I can walk you through what to do.

Basically, groups of scouts come to your table in clumps and you have about 5 minutes to capture their attention and explain a simple activity to them. Sample logbooks laid out are enough to catch their eye. You tell them you're sending them on treasure hunt, briefly explain the logging in process, emphasize STEALTH and respect, show them that they have their very own personal signature stamp on the end of their finger, and send their group off with a Crayola marker, one page of clues and information for their leader to hopefully read later and hopefully get all the many details you left out. The kids LOVE it and it is very rewarding to see the smiles on their faces.

In Troy, I already have boxes hidden and clues written. If you come and help me, you can go find them.

In Pevely, someone would need to go out in advance and hide two boxes and write simple clues (I can even tell you where to go). I also have boxes you can use or you can make your own. The event organizers will make copies of clues/handouts and have them there for you.

So if anyone is willing to give back in this way, contact me and I'll get you more details. Thanks!
