We went to Cave City in Kentucky. We've been planning this trip for a long time. A few times I got on Atlas quest and searched Cave City, Kentucky. Not one letterbox. We knew we were staying in a tight area so I only looked for boxes that would be in Cave City. Could not find any on the website. So sad. But we had so many other things to do that it would be ok. I would survive. The main destination for our trip is a place called Big Mike's Rock Shop. It was not even until we got there that we found out it had been shut down for almost a year. The owner had passed away and the place went up for auction. It was purchased, slightly if any remodeled, and reopened. We could have been like the Griswolds and showed up innocently to heartbreak. I would have had to punch Big Moe in the nose. Anyway, we lucked out and the place is reopened. There is a rock shop, and then there is also a souvenir shop. I asked the gentleman at the souvenir shop if I may carve a stamp and plant a letterbox there. He said "hey! We already have one! It's ---- -- --- ---- ------- back there." :)

I tried to blank out what he said, not to kill the clue. however the clues may no longer apply. But it is there!

Wow, what a story. Love to hear that. I found that one a long time ago. I remember right where it was. Glad it's still alive and well.

This makes me laugh so much. I’m glad to hear that everything is okay with the box. So sorry to hear about the death....they are wonderful people. I like having all the logbooks in the container...it is big enough, because I really like having the history there of people that have passed through. I appreciate anyone that has stopped there, gotten a coke or some memento of the area. Understand that Guntown Mountain has a new owner too.
