Driving home from Cincinnati today, I found myself looking wistfully at the I-71 Delaware exit & wishing there was still a Saturday-after-Thanksgiving DUMMB event. Good memories from 2010! Too bad we're done eventing until spring!

I know! The weekend seems extra long without DUMMB especially if you're not a shopper & too cold to LB?!!

That's funny because I was also wishing we still had the DUMMB event. Unfortunately the number of active letterboxers around here in the DUMMB Counties has really dwindled. We don't even have enough to host an event right now.

It's not just the folks from OH-IO who miss the event. I enjoyed it for the last few years, and remember it fondly as well.

There just aren't enough letterboxers around here any more to host an event. I don't know if they all moved on to other things or what happened to them. -Rose

I've been thinking about something to do ... but it will require a lot of planning and many hands.

Rgang, Granny Butterfly & Coffee Mug hosted an event in Zanesville last year even though they live over 70 miles away! I'm not sure they'd recommend it, but they showed it is possible to host an event in a different city from where you live.

Columbus is great because it's right in the middle of Ohio, so it's a convenient drive for everyone, especially in the winter when the weather's iffy.

I think we should consider reviving the event - instead of 'DUMMB founded in the Middle of Nowhere', we could call it 'REMOTE' (Retail Escape - Mid Ohio Thanksgiving Event)! Hold it somewhere in the greater Columbus area (not necessarily the DUMMB counties), but see if some people from further away could help with planning & hosting.
