New boxes planned or already carved:

My gnome box, basically done, just needs some paint. Probably going in Starkey Park on a longer hike. I don't want to lose this one to muggles. I promise it is one of my best boxes yet.

Horse of Another Carver virtual event. I have a plan for a box going in Lake Chautauqua Park in Clearwater. (Landmark Drive). This quiet park has a newly opened equestrian trail, so I want to highlight that. This will be planted in mid December for the event.

Clearwater East-West Trail. This 13 mile bike/walk trail was brought to my attention by the box (which I couldn't find) that is listed in Kapok Park. Although I couldn't find that box, I was thrilled to find a great bike path that I ended up riding all the way to Safety Harbor on! Already found one decent spot for a letterbox there. But you're going to have to walk 2/3 mile round trip (or bike). I'm hoping..... If I plant enough boxes along the bike trail, people might ride their bikes and letterbox? The trail is dotted with nice parks, and several parking areas. So that will be an ongoing project and I'm not sure how I will list it. I may just make them all separate boxes, but mention the bike trail in the clue. That way if one goes missing, no big deal and it doesn't trip people's OCD wires.

I really want to do my Ebola spoof series. I actually planned this series about 3 years ago, but never followed through. I even bought props for it. Now I really must! I thought of some new twists since my original plan. I have NO idea which park to plant it in. I need a really big park with lots of different trails for my idea. Starkey Park might work, but I really want to put a Florida Cracker series... (Or separate, but related Florida Cracker boxes, haha,) in that park.

Weedon Island Preserve. Really must plant there now that I see Amanda's box is still active. Hey folks, that's Amanda from Seattle, and her box is 12 years old! Go get it!!!! It is a miracle for a box to last that long in Florida. So I may carve a related nature stamp to go there.

Then of course, I have a ton of carves to plant for Florida Kitsch and Love those Movies. Hope you all consider donating or planting a stamp or two at these worthy events!!! Pleaeese??? Check out our trackers, thanks...

Even if you don't come to events, please consider mailing us a stamp or even a complete box. Florida Letterboxing can't get noticed unless we put in some nice big events. We would appreciate it so much. And you will get credit as carver! :).

Some history about Weedon Island boxes

MANY years ago, the officials at Weedon Island asked that all boxes and caches be pulled from the area and no new planted. They were having drug dealing problems at the park and that was one way the exchanges were happening. They weren't using boxes to do it just hiding drugs in the park. They weren't against boxing it just wasn't right for the time.

Well, I will check if new geocaches have been planted there. They have to get permission, so that's one way to check.

I would, however, take my/our bikes to a bike path and go boxing. We've done this in a number of places - great fun!!

Good!! I love bike boxing! The Clearwater East-West trail is really, really nice! It links several nice parks and lands in Safety Harbor, which is a neat little town to have lunch in. I have only done a small section of that trail. I'm going to ride the rest soon.

I'm a bit settled down from earlier. I noticed while reading Ryan's blog today, he found a letterbox in Scotland, and was first finder after 2 years. All I can say is KUDOS to the Scotland planter. Jeez, she even writes fancy formatted clues. I bet she will be surprised if she ever looks and sees the Green Tortuga found her box.

I'm still going to pull that one series and send 2 of the stamps to Lynda for her event. I think they will fit right in with the theme. The others I will leave, and try to fill in the missing boxes if I can. So they will be here when you get here.

I'm making a bunch of notecards out of my favorite stamps. Then I can plant them, and if they go missing or rarely found... A bunch of people will at least get to see and log them as note cards.....

Amanda's box was found recently. I'm going to try to find it in the next month.

Bummer! That happened to me once in a park I paid $6 entrance to. Then later found out there was a mystery box there.
