Scout Leader resources

In preparation for the Girl Scout Troop Roundup this weekend, I decided to post all my resources for scout leaders on the Gateway Letterboxers website instead and just give them a small flyer with the URL. The handouts are here http://www.gatewayletterboxers.org/scouts-letterboxing.html if you ever need them for yourself or a leader you know, or even if you just want to proofread them for me. :-)

I QUICKLY reviewed the materials and will spend more time later... Please note The interest patches are no longer available from GSUSA. The only GSUSA badge is the Brownie badge and the Juniors have a Geocashing badge.

PLEASE STRONGLY encourage troops if they wish to leave their letterbox for others to find that they are sure it is in a weather proof container and it is maintained and the clues are good as well as the site. I have heard from several fellow letterboxers that Girl Scouts do not maintain their boxes, and it leaves a poor impression of the Girl Scout boxes.

Thanks, I will modify it right now. Very good points. That's also why I would love if leaders would actually go find some first before launching their own program.

I am a GS volunteer and run Letterbox and Geocache events for my service unit. I've found that the Troop Leaders are too busy to learn every new activity and having a specialist come in and teach is a great help to them. I don't have the girls plant a box or cache, but if they wanted, we would post it on my account, so I can monitor it.

There are Bownie boxes around here that are not maintained. None of my local Leaders know who placed them and I can't reach the owners.
