I'd like to buy some too...my daughter, Tigerlilly, will be at the event but I cannot make it this time. I can have her complete the transaction with you, if that isn't too confusing! Can you include me for 2 pieces? I'm afraid to buy more without trying it first.

Ok, I got a go ahead for the Feb event to distribute it there. I have a back ache and splitting headache right now, so I'm going to lay low the rest of the day. But I will write up a list and send you all my address. I am getting quite a few requests, so if I can get 100 pieces, maybe I can even get a little better deal. So let's hold off on sending any checks or PayPal until I find out more. I think I will wait until end of August to get a final total, and then see if that drops our price even further, if we get a lot. I would like to keep the orders at 5 or 10 for simplicity, but since we already have quite a few, and a few people have asked for 2 or 3 pieces, I will probably be able to do that. Remember this might be a rare chance to order this in bulk, unless other people start doing group orders. To me, it is too expensive to order any other way, at least for now.

Right now I must get some Motrin in me... ow, darn airplane travel....

Thanks everyone, for the interest!

Yay! I'm glad there is enough interest to make this work! I think this is the smartest way to get this stuff.

We are sending the seller a request for a custom order and see what kind of deal we can get. Probably wont hear back until tomorrow because of time zone difference. Cross fingers!

Ok, I heard back from sweetloveqiner. When I looked at her Etsy site, the 15 x20 cm white blocks were $8.68 plus $5.99 shipping for one item and $4.99 shipping for each additional item. Which made the price like $13.60 each. YUCK.

Turns out that during the conversation on Stamp Carving boards, the 50 pieces for $330 was for the random color 10x15 blocks. Random color included some dark colors not good for transfer. Then the conversation switched to the white blocks, but I missed the first part. So I felt bad for misreading that!

HOWEVER! :) Good News:

She has a deal for bulk orders on the 15x20 cm white and here are the prices:

50 pieces. $342.70 USD including shipping
75 pieces. $479.20 USD including shipping
100 pieces $615.60 USD includng shipping

Whew! So pretty much the same deal as I originally thought. I did not ask for a deal on the random color blocks, because they are small and I would not want to be stuck with 50 dark purple blocks.

Here is her ETSY link:

I started to break down the cost per piece and add to my post, when I dropped my phone and completely shattered the screen. Ugh! Will be upgrading to Samsung Galaxy tomorrow!

So if we get 50 orders, per piece it will be $6.86
75 orders, per piece it will be $6.39
100 orders, per piece it will be $6.16

Let's wait until at least Oct. 1 to start sending checks or by PayPal, so people have time to see this post and decide. Also, more people may sign up for the events, I hope! I will keep a list, and send my address when I know the total. I will also confirm with everyone, how many they want before I post the total. Once I get all the payments, I will order the blocks, but unless you see me before the events, I will hold onto them until then.

If anyone would like to donate $3 to their order, I will use it to buy extra blocks to be raffled off at each event. This is totally optional, no pressure! :)

From this point on, please send me an AQ mail if you want to order some, so I can easily save to archives. I still prefer batches of 5 or 10, but I can do 2 or 3 if needed. Remember these blocks are only about 6 x 8 inches. But it does look like we will get at least 50, to get a good deal.

Did I forget anything? Let me know if you have questions. More details about the description of how the carving blocks perform are on the Stamp Carving Boards. Kirbert has described how they perform, and they sound wonderful for knife and gouge carvers, beginner to advanced. Good carving material makes a big difference on how your stamps look, and the ease of carving!

I am signed up for a class that day, so I don't think I will be at the event. It could change, though.

I am busy with kids until school starts, Aug 18, but may be free after that.

No teasing Kirbert!
And there are folks who would attend just because you were there....Please consider this my personal and official but yet unauthorized invitation....
Seriously I amongst many others would more than love to meet you at either the St Augustine (Feb) or Tampa (Mar) event.

I say just get speedyball it's like $10-$20 (depending on size) but it gets the job done it's pink, flexible, but still firm. I find it a pretty good for making stamps.

Speedy Carve has been inconsistent in quality for the past year or so. Sometimes it has been too soft and crumbly for people who like to get a lot of fine detail, especially lettering. The company is supposed to be working on a fix, but it has been hit and miss. This is why some of us want the amazing quality of Asian carving blocks. You can work with those blocks with knife and gouge in ways you just can not do with Speedy Carve. I think 95% of carvers use or have tried Speedy Carve, but it works well for many things, but it is nice to try new things, sometimes.

Hmmm. If this stuff is superior to the pink stuff but easier to manipulate than OZ (the only two things I know) then I'll give it a try. Put me down for 10 pieces. Should keep me busy for a while if I like it, and if I don't, I'm sure someone would be willing to buy it off me.

See ya in Feb!

Floridafour, we may have to hit SLQ up for better prices on orders of over 100 slabs as this rate.

We can sure try. From what she and the lady who sells the SEED brand told me, it is based on increments of weight. So if I understand correctly, it is best to fill up that weight slot to its limit. We will see what we can get. Are there any good hagglers out there? :D. As they say in the Philippines, "Last price, Ma'am?"

Chances would be better for the Tampa event since I have family there. I never plan that far ahead, though. SWMBO will be at work in March, so presumably I'd have to drive down alone.

Ooh, we would love to have you, Kirby. It is a lovely park, with a river for kayaking and canoing... And hopefully extreme boxing....

There may be a few slabs of the SLQ up for raffle items. My husband has already warned me not to buy any extra to attempt to sell, though. He doesn't want to be stuck with it, and I don't want to start a mail order business. It all has to be prepaid, except that I will donate a few pieces, and anyone who wants to donate a few bucks, or donate one of their slabs, that would be cool, too.
