LOOK AT THAT!! Siren Eyes just planted 12 boxes right here in Charlotte! What a way to make an appearance! Welcome, Siren Eyes!!

I've been waiting for warmer weather and my classes to end to have some time to go hunting again. I'm been focused on Freebird's Charlotte area planting spree, but now this too!! Woohoo!! No more driving about 2 hours to go hunting (well, at least for a little while anyway)! :)

And 10 miles of hiking! Right up your alley, mama wolf.

We have been waiting for warmer weather to get back to Charlotte and do some more hunting. Now with all the new plants, it's going to take several trips! I'm excited.

Hope

Woohoo!
Reedy Creek is all flat hiking (I've hiked ALL the trails out there) so it's no problem (it's the 10 miles of hiking uphill and down that will kill ya!-- *still sore from not getting "Mercenary Territory" in the Uwharries*).

Well, I sat down with my Reedy Creek Trail Map and the clues. It looks like maybe 7 miles of hiking. Some of the trails are not hiked in their entirety. Jolly Roger says he'll go fishing and I can go boxing. He's not into the long hike stuff. We won't be first finders for this 'cause--
We are going to Raleigh this weekend (well, for Sunday and come back Monday)--JR has a meeting in Raleigh Monday morning. Any recommendations for must find boxes in Raleigh. We'll only have a day to box.

Like the root ridden trails at Latta Plantation? My sis and I swore off that place last time we were there, because it felt like we were in a losing battle. Both times we have been, we had a less than 50% find rate. Then the EXACT DAY after we went last, 2 more boxes were planted.

Oh, come on, that Prairie Trail (leading to Hedwig) is my favorite trail! In fact, I have some plans for another box possibly on that trail that will be very difficult to resist... MUHAHAHAHA!

When I'm talking about uphill I'm talking about the loose rock vertical climb up the Uwharries -- yep, kids had confirmation that Mom lost her mind that day (wait until I take them back there for another crack at that box-- gotta wait until the days are longer, though...)!

When CDQ and I were there, it wasn't the roots causing problems. It was the teenagers who were off hiding in the woods smoking illegal substances. The smell is a dead give-away, even in the great outdoors. Quite an educational experience for my innocent teen-age daughter.

It's only been 40 degrees both times we went and school days, so no "illegal substances". My neice did poo in the woods though.

In twenty years I fully expect the Wolf cubs to be heavily subsidizing some therapist's vacation home. ;-)

Of course, my kids will be too...

LOL!
Well, since there are days that they are about driving me to a therapist, I'd say it's only fair that I get to do that same to them. ;) Hmmm...I can't seem to find that in any of the parenting handbooks, though...

Two different Latta Plantation trails:
The hilly, windy, root trail is the Prairie Trail (I think that's the name) out to Hedwig-- no teenagers there.
The "popular" trails (flat and fairly clear) are the one out to Noah's arc and the trails with Errol and Pigwidgeon (which has been carved and will be replaced in the next couple of weeks).

It was the trail to Errol that we had the encounter on. Pigwidgeon was missing at the time, and we didn't attempt Hedwig that day. Errol was also the one that we encountered the spider in the well (which CDQ swore was straight out of Harry Potter and intended to have her for dinner).

We keep trying to get back to Latta to get the boxes we missed (or that were missing) and the new ones. Maybe this weekend...

Not this weekend! You may want to wait until I get up there. I'm waiting on a VERY SPECIAL box to come in the mail. Oh, you won't want to miss it! Then I'll replace Pigwidgeon while I'm up there planting that one.

Well, if there is a VERY SPECIAL box AND pigwidgeon going in, I guess our "swearing off"days are over.

I'll announce it on the boards especially since I may change the clue.

Oh fine! I'll just wait. And I hope you are happy, since you have probably now relegated me to a weekend of actually cleaning my house! Any volunteers?

Hope

I thought that was what CDQ and Bith were for...

But don't be too hasty, there are plenty of other boxes before you have to result to something like that, like the 12 in Reedy Creek park which is where this thread started at...
