Hey everyone! Just thought you would like to know, since it's going to be a BEAUTIFUL weekend (kinda scary to say that a 35 degree day is beautiful, but those are the times we live in), I thought I would give you an early Valentine present :-). Please keep in mind that these boxes aren't for the novice hiker. It's VERY steep terrain, and can be slippery! Yaktrax and hiking stick are recommended!!!!! Be very careful!

What are Yaktrax? I did go boxing last weekend with spikes and a trekking pole and it was easier walking than in November over freshly fallen leaves. Dang new puppy kept getting tangled up in the leash, but that's another story...

They sell them at EMS.... They're wires for the bottom of your boots. Spikes work too if they're on the bottom of your foot :-) I wouldn't take puppy here if he pulls. You might fall down the hill. It's that steep!

Interesting. The microspikes I have look like this: http://www.amazon.com/Kahtoola-KAH-QUD-BLK-M-Microspikes-Medium-Black/dp/B00E81C90G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1391133748&sr=8-1&keywords=microspikes. No good at all on pavement but excellent on an icy trail, especially if there are steep areas. I also have LLBean's Stabilicers Lite, but they are more for walking down a road that has been plowed but isn't down to the pavement yet: http://www.amazon.com/Stabilicers-Lite-Serious-Traction-Cleat/dp/B000GUCDDG/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1391133748&sr=8-10&keywords=microspikes

I absolutely love my microspikes. Great in the icy woods. :)

Could have used them today on some of the more traveled trails in Douglas

I was out on the trails for several hours today and it was beautiful. Patchy snow in Shelton, and I am deeply in love with my microspikes. I got so warm hiking I had to take off my coat and carry it. The trails were deserted (I hear the mall was packed). And no bugs!

I do STRONGLY suggest spikes or Yaktrax for the trail that my new boxes are on. It's EXTREMELY steep!
