Send some over to this side of the pond! This has been a very warm January with hardly any frost and we've seen no snow at all. Just wind and rain.

Though whether YT can say same I don't know :-)

We are getting snow here in Columbia, South Carolina also, but for right now, the schools are on a two hour delay. I'm hoping for my son's sake that the schools close because this is the first snow in a couple of years, and he's out there playing in it right now. The flakes are really huge also, so it's the fun snow to play in and make snowballs. I'm scheduled to go into work at noon, but that might change too if the snow continues.

It's snowing here in NC near the VA line and school is closed here also. Not sure how many virtuals will get done. But I'll have fun trying.

Rain, rain, all the time rain! My son went to bed in full snow bringing regalia (inside out and backward pjs, spoon under the pillow, silly spinning dace etc.) but alas, we awoke to rain. I guess when you live in the deep south, you should just give up on snow! But a kid can dream!!

The weatherman said that we've had snow for the past 22 days straight. While I'm grumbling with my shovel, I just keep thinking that if it was summer, we'd have had 22 straight days of rain! I'll take the snow! :)

Our snow has stopped and we are getting sleet now. The schools are staying at a two hour delay, but I made a parental decision to keep my son home today. Boy, was he happy. I have to go to work at noon for an hour and if they let schools out early, the only person that could pick him up would be my daughter and her week old baby. Not going to chance the three of them getting hurt. My son is an AB student, so he can make up his work rather quick. I was just shocked that they didn't close the school with the snow, sleet and it almost at freezing. Bridges and stuff are already slick. Oh, well. I made my parental decision and sticking to it. (smile)

We unfortunately are not getting much snow anymore but at least i made a mini snowman. i put it right on my frozen birdbath. It's not even a foot tall!!! i had to scrap all of the snow off of our cars. lol. But still.... YEH!!!!!!!

We are very jealous of your snow. All we've had is freezing cold weather! It's much more fun with snow!

Our schools are closed because it's supposed to snow, but we haven't seen the first flake!! The forecast has changed from 3-5 inches to 1-2 inches. The radar on weather.com is rather peculiar looking - it looks like it's snowing/raining everywhere but here....... I bet there are some school officials who are saying "darn it". But this is only the second day of school we have missed this year.

I'm wondering if we have time to run a few errands....... (maybe find a letterbox...... ;-))

I told my kids they could have half a day off to play in the snow. Then it's back to the grindstone! They are asking to go letterboxing, though. Do you think they know my weakspot?
Good thing it's not safe to drive.

I'm taking a break from carving cooties to see what is happening here on atlasquest.

It has totally stoped snowing here. I think we have 1/8 of an inch. (Only in some places) I remember last year though Iredell- Statesville Schools were closed the night before a really big storm was SUPPOSED to hit. Too bad it flew right on past us. We were out of school and nothing was happening. I felt really bad for our super, who I'm sure got a lot of grief.

I was talking to a friend and he said the ice was going hit really soon. I really hope we don't get iced in.

so, CDQ, Where would you go boxing? You already have nabbed all the boxes in the area. Every time I find one, there you are... your cute little stamp is there!! :)

On a different note, I'm a little jealous here!!! My sister, sweet n sour gets a cootie named after her? What's up with that? I guess when we meet, I'll have to make a good impression. Of course, my trail name isn't a great lender of ideas for cooties... boring!!!

WOW! CDQ, you work in mysterious ways. No sooner did I post about my jealousy and ***POOF*** there it is!! My very own cootie, just for me. Thanks, I just hope that I will be the first recipient. Sly, CDQ, sly...

Okay I don't know where I would go boxing. I could go plant though. Maybe do some checking up on all of our boxes in the area. Not to mention I think mom has like eight boxes that need to go down. I have seven or eight but they aren't quite ready to go down.

I'm not sure about the whole cootie thing. I am working on a cootie for all the GOOD COOTIE people out there whom I have met and love. With the exception of you. Whom I haven't met. But I have a pretty good idea that I'll love you too.

Very very sly. I get that from being around these LETTERBOXERS all the time. Oh and if you think I'm sly wait till you meet the Wolf Cubs. The little boogers sneak little pests into your stuff. I will be the least of your concern in Waxhaw. LOL...

Better to close the schools and have nothing than to leave them open and have a school bus go off the road with kids in it. The back of the school bus was 5+ feet off the ground. I felt sorry for our super that day. (this happened the end of nov.) If you are interested hear is a photo.

I totally agree!! There's little to no snow here, (well, at my house, who knows about the rest of the county) and school was cancelled based on the forecast. There will probably be grief over it, but I'd much rather be safe than sorry.

If no more snow occurs, then we will probably have school tomorrow. Which is ok with me, as our preschool goes with the school schedule, and I traded days with a co-worker, so tomorrow is my "day off" - <grinning>

There might be letterboxes to be found......
