I had to retire my 'A Letterbox for Missoula' today. I got a message from the director of the carousel letting me know they've looked for it and its missing. The good news is, she wants to work with me to get a new box planted. Now I've got some thinking/planning/creating to do (-: What kind of box, what image, oh the possibilities...

We're glad to hear you'll be replanting! We really wanted that stamp! (And its another excuse to visit the cool carousel!) Have you considered leaving it at the gift shop? It would only be available when the place is open, but at least it would be protected!

I would totally consider it. I need to think about what to carve. I would like to do something better than the last one.

I thought it was incredible that she emailed me. I never had permission to plant in the first place but it sounds like several people had looked and asked about it. She asked the workers about it and even had them search for it. Then she figured out how to contact me via LbNA.

I have had nothing but excellent experiences with my boxes in Montana. I hope to get back next summer to plant and find some more.

I'm working on it. It's worth a trip. But then Missoula is worth a trip. I definitely left a piece of my heart there when I left after graduation.

I also have one other box in Missoula and one not far in Garnet.

I'll post when the carousel box happens.

I *almost* went there for school too! Took the journey with my mom, submitted my app then went on a tour of campus but when my tour guide told the group they get feet upon feet of snow in the winter so much so that the previous year a dorm had been completely snowed in and no one got in or out for a couple days...well, skip to the end and I graduated from a Cali school. hahaha But it sure is a beautiful town. Maybe if I had known about the carousel...

Missoula is a great city to visit and there are lots of letterboxes to find! Yay! (We found the Garnet box, too...awesome place! Highly recommended!)

I was there for 4 years, not once did we get a snow day. No not us, the UofM's boilers are impenetrable and never freeze up or whatever it is that they do to prevent heat. (Honestly I don't know what a boiler is, we don't have those in California). One year it got really cold, I mean -30 COLD, I know, I had to walk home from work at midnight. But now I have that story for my kids, you know the one, 'up hill both ways' (-:

We went looking for your box earlier this fall and couldn't find it but I could tell you loved the carosel and took a picture of the dragon horse they have on it. I am not sure but I think it is pretty new and thought you might like to see it. I never got around to sending it to you but maybe you could carve something like him. It you would like to see it I can send you a pic although maybe it is on the carousels website. We are very excited you will replant it.

I looked it up on the carousel website, I think that would really test my carving skills (-: I'd love to see your picture of it. I'll aq mail you my email.
