I have clue piles of paper, years old of places I’ve wanted to get to, some used in Sky challenges over the years, I’m just too lazy to keep track of mileage on trails on top of everything else.

Send-by date is Feb. 1st, but it's a small tracker (you only have to make 6 cards) and recycled stamps are allowed, so there is still enough time (3 weeks +) to participate. Everyone welcome, and return postage is free!

Still have a few more openings if you are interested in carving a stamp for our Robin Hood event in March.
Stamps are needed by March 1.
After the event you can have your stamp back or they can go into a traveling event box for sharing.

I only found three of the "Critters" but that was a fun day. Hard to believe that was 5 years ago. There is also another AQ box there called "California Dreamin".

So I saw Maiden's message about teams. I'll be driving down from Seattle for the weekend with my husband, SteamKitty, whom some of you may remember from In Search of a Degree and Exploring the Seas. Since teams are six, and we are just two, we're looking for teammates. Who wants to join forces?

Clue 8 = Houston. The Eagle has landed!

Note. I am not looking for one specific event. Looking for a generic answer. Use all of the clues (you can ignore the first one which is an obscure reference, Sweeties.) This might be the last clue. If you are in the neighborhood I'll give you a final hint directly.

Are you really going to brave the elements today ? It's 10 degrees and gusty cold here in central NY. I don't think I'm even going to walk to my mailbox, it's so cold !

If you got out there, I would like to hear about it. :^)

brave the elements

I can remember the days when I went 'boxing in all kinds of winter weather with the saying, "there is no bad weather, just not dressing right!" Hand warmers, foot warmers!! WHAT was I THINKING?!!! I'm much wiser these days, snug and warm. With memories. LOL

I agree! I'd like to liven things up by saying that the very first letterbox planted in the U.S. was the Prayer Rock box, but I'm sure that won't generate any discussions.

It's quiet .... too quiet!

Ooooo, this was one of my favorite finds, second only to Rubba Bugga! It would've been my top favorite, but the excruciating noise there was almost painful!!! Either way, both carvings are worth searching out... IF you can decode the clues AND muster up the courage!!! ;o)

Snopes: WRONG!

Correct Answer:

The United States Post Office Department began installing public letterboxes in the 1850s outside post offices and on street corners in large Eastern cities. U.S. letterboxes were initially designed to be hung or supported, and were mounted on support pillars, lamp-posts, telegraph poles, or even the sides of buildings. By the 1880s, these letterboxes were made of heavy cast iron to deter theft or vandalism. As letterbox volume grew, they were replaced with other free-standing models. After the late as the 1960s, most letterboxes were replaced with a rigid plastic variety that could be more easily placed in any desired location, such as "Prayer Rock". The rest is history.

Hey GT!

Is there any way to have a "hide" feature on the "newest letterbox plants" section on "my page?" I would like to hide ones I've already found.

Thoughts?

Thanks!
