Brushton / Malone Rt 11 Twist n Shake

I'm looking for Hooker's Twist-N-Shake on Rt. 11.
When I Google the name it maps it to what looks like a farm.
When I map it using the address it shows houses and farmland.

Is it there?
1591 State Rt. 11, Brushton, NY
another link says North Bangor, NY
either way, Google maps puts it in a field.

when I ask Google Maps for it by name, it puts it at the intersection of Rts 11 & 22, but doesn't identify it when I click "what's here"

Anyone know this place?
Is it still in business?
Is it anywhere near any of the places I mentioned?

thanks
GG

Hooker's is east of Brushton, on Hwy 11. Yes, it looks like a house, but there's a red sign out front. Google satellite view shows heavy equipment parked next door.

PS - If you're looking for another similar business that 'needs' a letterbox, I hear there's a new cafe in Brushton called Double Ds.

I'm looking for Hooker's Twist-N-Shake on Rt. 11.

...that is a very interesting name. I am surprised google maps doesn't place the pin on the street corner.

Sorry! :D

According to Yelp the address is:

1591 State Route 11
North Bangor, NY 12966

And it says:

"Yelpers report this location has closed."

Box should still be there though. It's edge of tree line.

You get different towns on different sites...Malone, Brushton, North Bangor.

What a wonderful day exploring the Wead Library in Malone! It was so much fun to solve the puzzles and hunt through the library to find a great collection of stamps! And of course nice to get together with other boxers. :-)

Maude, thank you so much for bringing this event to northern NY and for all the work you did to pull this amazing event together! It was a great day!

It was my pleasure to share the stamps and puzzles with you all. I have to share credit with the Oregon folks who inspired the Whodunits format, and with the Ohio folks who included CLUE in one of their events, and Reluctant Traveler, whose ideas are always clever, not to mention the folks who helped us get all the stamps carved. It was fun for me to meet new boxers, and to watch my granddaughter Bananas discover her boxing self. Aunt Agatha and I are tickled to pieces.
Lost letterboxing bag! Can you help?

I was letterboxing in Kenoza Lake, NY near the Stone Arch Bridge on August 30th. I was amazed with the scenery and took some time to take some pictures. I thought the bag was put in the car before we left but it is nowhere to be found.

It is a dark green canvas bag, with a single shoulder strap. It has all my stamps used for logging in as well as my logbook which has all my stamp impressions from May of 2016. I can replace most things but I am so distraut over losing the logbook.

I think if it was left anywhere it would have been in the area between the stone bridge and the the highway bridge. If anyone has found it, or has heard of it being found, please email me at avw1190@yahoo.com

I would be most grateful! Thank you!

The box hidden for years at the Skaneateles Conservation Area was in extremely bad shape so I took it home and repackaged it. I don't think the owner is active anymore (too bad!). Took me a while to get it back but it's there now! If you haven't found it yet, perhaps it's because it doesn't seem to come up when you do a geographic search even though it's listed as being in Skan. Anyway, here is the link:

I did a 'simple search' and it came up.

"Skaneateles - 15 miles"

It should come up in other town searches depending on how many miles they do.

Weird! I have never been able to get it to appear and I regularly do Simple Search, Skaneateles, 15 miles. Just did it now and it did not appear. I only knew it existed via WOM and had to type “Skaneateles” into the box name line to find it. The search reported boxes in Syracuse, Spafford, Auburn, etc, so it should have picked it up.

It came up for me also. Are you sure you don't have the Box blocked or have some other restrictions set on your searches?

I think Janila is right. It has something to do with your settings, either in searching or boxes in general? But I have no idea what it would be. Maybe go through your settings and see what you have.

Filter thresholds maybe? But honestly I don't know.

It's had a lot of finders so I can't see it being some kind of restriction set by the planter. Though one never knows.

If you really want to find out and can't, maybe ask Ryan. He might be able to see something you can't.

But it's good of you to rescue it!

Best of luck with your event! I wanted to come, in fact, I even signed up for it but then when I realized how many Christmas activities take place this weekend, I had to un-sign up. :-(

My last active box in Manhattan has gone to Letterboxing Heaven. Since moving to Westchester I stopped planting down there. It lasted so long for an urban plant under a mailbox. And they actually got down and looked underneath. So. I am officially sad. :(
