hello,
I will be going to Georgia with my husband, not a boxer but he will do drive bys and short walks. We will start be in Ellijay area from the 18th to 21st. He wants to see the beginning of the Appalachian Trail and perhaps hike a bit on it. From there we go to Villa Rica (about 35 miles W of Atlanta)from Friday to Friday. We will be doing day trips into Atlanta and probably a day at Stone Mountain.
Then we head south to Warm Springs and Americus for a day each. We end up at East Point before flying out September 30.
Any suggestions for can't miss attractions and boxes in Atlanta are welcome. As are any suggestions at other stops along our way.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I love the GA aquarium. 2nd biggest aquarium in the world. World of Coke is way too crowded so I'd skip that. CNN building is cool. Centenial Park. Sope Creek, Kennesaw Mountain, and Silver Commet Trail are all great hiking spots with letterboxes. There's also the Big Chicken in Marietta which is a fun roadside attraction. It's a kfc.

If you like gardens, the Atlanta Botanical Garden is amazing. The orchid house is breathtaking. There are a few boxes in the area (Piedmont Park is ajoining)

It just so happens that I will be heading to Maine for an event on the 18th. We are going by auto...seeing some of WV, Penn, NY, Mass, Del, RI on the way. Hope you enjoy Georgia. Calloway Gardens is beautiful, some nice trails and boxes. Seeing you had Warm Springs on your list, you may have planned that anyway.

hi,
I would be interested in having a copy of box grouping at Stone Mountain that divides up the mountain into sections and groups boxes accordingly.
I will be going to Ellijay, Atlanta area, then Warm Springs for 2 weeks at the end of September.
Thanks in advance if you are still offering this information.

hi,
not sure what you mean about box #5 at Stone Mt or box #6 at Piedmont PArk.

Literally box #5 ( a stone mountain letterbox) and #6 are in georgia. They are green tortugas plants and have been out there for more than a decade I believe. #5 is not a short hike if you follow the clue as written. I'm not sure about number 6... but it's likely much shorter. Also Bebo is being humble by not suggesting his own boxes...they are super lovely, and will show you some great spots on the mountain.

Box #6 Piedmont Park.

I think you mean Box #4. Box # 6 is in Oregon.

Oh no! I'm so out of practice that I don't even know what these numbers mean, much less where they are!

@ peepstone.... I love your signature stamp, and as far as I can tell you already have most the local boxes. It's box numbers, just impossibly low numbers give that new boxes have 6 digit designations. I'm pretty sure you have been to #5 (a stone mountain letterbox) because I would have gotten all excited about beating you to any box in stone mountain park (same deal with the other local boxers- if I ever find something before any number of the local legends I'm gonna be a little excited about it,) i have considered just changing my trail name to "the- boxer-after-Bebo-Bear" (mostly joking) because that would be super acurate, and slightly funny.

A stone mountain letterbox is a replant. It was carved by my friend Mark. I replanted it. It is still there I saw it yesterday when I walked by. The original stamp is planted in the park also as part of the tribute series to the original plants at the park. Fyi

I know I'm replying to myself but. There original box was thought lost so it was recarved by Mark... then I followed the original Clues and found the original box... so we replanted it as a tribute

Thanks to SHH for a great event! Although the rain literally poured at times, it didn't dampen our spirit! It was so nice to meet so many of you, and to get some great stamp images!

On another note, I hope Mistletoe SP gets used again soon for another letterboxing gather! We stayed in a cabin and it was awesome! I would love to do it again!

I agree with what BB posted. Mistletoe State Park is a gorgeous park and the trails are awesome!!!! I had a great time at the event even with the rain. I enjoyed making new friends and catching up with old friends. I did not stay in any of the cabins, but while stamping all the great stamps that boxers planted around their cabins I can tell you that those cabins are beautiful and sit right on the lake with awesome views!!! I hope to return to this park again and this time stay in one of those cabins. Great job with this event SHH as always!!!!
