I have started with the software that came with the scanner and it works well. What I think would be nice is something that would auto crop the stamps and allow you to enter metadata to each image for AQ#, planter, caver, location, etc that can then be searched by any of the categories.

I never thought about the benefits of being able to pull it up on a tablet or phone, that would be great idea to be able to take to events or just to having with you.

I do I am kinda dreaming big right now but I think I should be able to find a auto crop software and some way to index them neatly in the mean time.

Some operating systems allow you to add tags to your files, but I usually just opt for a descriptive file naming system (in this case, probably something like "user cyaneus 70444.jpg" for people and something like "box_Box Name_state_planter.jpg" for boxes). This would allow you to use the "search" feature to enter part of the filename (such as the state or a username) and pull up a variety of boxes that contain that term.

Or perhaps sort them into separate folders. Either option requires a bit of a time investment to get all those files renamed and sorted.

I dunno what camera lucida means, but that iPhone app is *not* the same idea as the scheme described in the film. It is an interesting idea in its own right, though, and might prove useful to someone for stamp carving. And it *should* be able to help with the reversing issue; if it doesn't somebody needs to whap that developer upside the head and tell him to add a mirror image button to the app.

I dunno what camera lucida means, but that iPhone app is *not* the same idea as the scheme described in the film.

From this website:

Earlier this summer I watched the documentary Tim's Vermeer, which follows Tim Jenison as he tries to recreate a Vermeer painting using an optical device known as a camera lucida.

I’ll leave it to you to decide for yourself if they work on the same principal or not. Having used an actual Camera Lucida in the past, to my mind it is for all practical purposes the same.

Unless of course I’m misunderstanding the thrust of the OP. And since I haven’t seen the movie in a couple of years is entirely possible.

Alright, yes, I'm still playing PoGo. I'm loving the new "friends" feature, especially because when others send you gifts, you receive little pictures of where they're from (how very letterbox-ish). Is anyone else still playing that would like to be friends so that I can see pictures from far away places? If so, respond here or AQ mail me your trainer number? Pretty please?

Well, I haven't been in to the Sojourn in 7 years. Boy, have I missed out! Everyone was so nice! Even when I lost a Monopoly stamp! So embarrassing! Here are some highlights....
- shady trails
- even with a bunch of people, you could still box alone and peacefully enjoy the nature around you
- seeing old friends
- meeting new friends
- fastest raffle ever
- more boxes than you care to do on a hot day
- wonderful chinese at the Chow
- night boxing with a game that made you think, ponder, wonder with pleasant company
- easy camping option
- cool fan powered cooling that kept the room pleasant
- amazing artists everywhere!
- cold cooler full of water! Thanks Lockwench!

I probably did 20% of the boxes that were available, and I had such a wonderful time! Going through the lists today I realize how many people I missed meeting this time around, so will definitely be trying to bring the whole family next year!
