Thank to J Walker for the daily VLBs on Power Rangers and Beanie Babies. It is nice to have them one a day. Gives me something familiar to look forward to each day. Thanks again.

The problem with this hobby and singles (I am not single, Longstockings would carve off my lock'n'locks if I hinted otherwise) is that there aren't very many of us boxers around.

Take that with the fact that there aren't many of us that ARE single, and multiply that by the percentage of desirability, I would say it's few and far between that letterboxers hook up THROUGH letterboxing.

Except in California. It's like one big boxin' Roman orgy out there, I hear tell.

Don't worry, we picked it up, but we wondered why you left it. However, there is a bit of responsibility when you do take a hitchhiker. I mean finding a suitable box to leave it in and doing all of the appropriate stamping in all of the log books. It is amazing how many hitchhikers we have found that letterboxers have not taken the time to stamp in the box in which it was found. Also we find it interesting to know what part of the country it has traveled to, but many never record the city, state in which it visited. Next time you will know what to do.

you will generally want to breathe on the stamp (therwise known as huffing) to re-wet the ink and get a good impression from all the colors.</qoute>

"Huffing" is breathing IN fumes from markers or other chemicals.

This sounds like Clinton huffing (since he doesn't inhale)

Dang, that police officer is in good company.

I never worry about getting in touch with my feminine side when I go to Hobby Lobby...if someone wants to make something of it, they usually change their mind when they see the Colt .45 (stainless, Combat Commander, cocked and locked, with my badge on my belt right next to it) on my hip.

I've wondered this myself. After going to my first gathering it seemed hardly any guys boxed and the ones that were there were with a female spouse.
The last gathering was a little better but still, most guys were there w/girls.
Most guys I tell about boxing think its, wimpy(usually they use a 'stronger' word), (even w/the long hikes).
And most women I tell at the very least look up letterboxing.org...

If anybody is going to do a poll it should have some sort of spouse question....Did your spouse get you involved etc.
I would bet most guys are involved cuz of a spouse while most women do it cuz they want to.

As usual, I fall decidedly outside the norm. And norm is NOT happy about that, let me tell you.

My wife (I am male, in case you hadn't guessed) will have nothing to do with boxing, despite my and my 6-year old daughter's best efforts to convert her. Her greatest fear is that someday, because of letterboxing, I will get a fanny pack.

I find all this discussion of "manly" behavior really depressing.

Why the need to define things in terms of "manly" and non-manly polarities? I aspire to be a human being, not a gender stereotype.

Sheesh.
Xana's ninth encounter
Board: Dungeons and Dragons
May 31, 2007 11:03pm
Thread Board
Xana walked toward yet another door, wondering how many doors there were yet to come. It seemed a long time since she had last seen the sky, but time moved deceptively underground, without the Great Dance of the constellations overhead to mark its passing. The door was of wood bound with iron, unlocked but stuck fast. A few hard blows freed it, and she looked around it gingerly, arrows at the ready.

At first she thought that she looked into a mirror, seeing an image of her own form. But that misapprehension was soon corrected, as two swift arrows winged towards her, wounding her in the arm. Startled, she quickly sent two arrows back, thinking hard about the best way to fight her equivalent. Arrows flew back and forth, each wounding the other. She sent up a prayer to the Lady. To her surprise, Hwesta flew to her aid, kicking the image in the face with a powerful hoof. Her kind could read the thoughts of others, and she had heard Xana's prayer for help. Together they were able to defeat the creature. Xana's image faded from it, leaving a gangly, odd-looking corpse.

There was a small silken bag in the corner, which contained some silver, an opal pendant with colours swirled like fire, a scroll, and a potion of healing, which Xana immediately and gratefully drank. Hwesta had been blessedly unharmed. Xana was thankful for the Asperi's help - that folk were by nature gentle and not given to fighting except at great need. She hoped that they would soon both be able to return to their homes.

I am with Mrs. Wassa on this. Aside from the fact that they're horrible, I can't imagine that a fanny pack would even come close to holding all of the boxing necessities.

There are two kinds of people in the world. Those who fit their gender stereotypes, and those who don't. *insert eerie music now*

Whew, I think I just had an X-Files moment.

Actually, there are 10 kinds of people in the word. Those who know binary, and those that don't. *knowing nod*

In any case, not to worry, while I haven't done any scientific studies to prove or disprove the matter, it at least appears you have actually achieved the goal of being a human being. No longer are you just an aspirer. =)
